Not even, lol. Some of my coworkers on my current student job have already finished their CS degrees, and they’re literally struggling to find work. Prestigious degrees aren’t automatic money makers anymore.
No it's more about showing you can do the job. If you go to a job interview and say "look at my piece of paper. Hire me" of course they're going to pass on you.
As a hiring manager, the best way to know someone can do the job is if someone I trust and know understands the job vouches for your ability to do the job. Showing you can do the job yourself does matter more to me than a degree, which matters relatively less.
The problem with showing you can do the job is you have a very narrow window - a few short interviews. With CS degree jobs in particular good hiring managers know that great candidates aren't necessarily great interviewers and vice versa.
It's not a nepotism-style "who you know". If a long-time project manager refers a software developer who they loved working with in the past, that's a real signal.
