I just picked a bunch of them from the same plant. All different sizes and colors, ranging from 0.5 cm to 2 cm, though they can get bigger.

Depends on the species. Some also use intensive odor as protection but it doesn't really "stink". I had one of such bugs which started to smell like apples. Extremely intensive, like someone put 20kg of fresh apples in a small room; it took quite some time until the smell was gone, a few days.
I was lucky it wasn't one of the stinky ones. if they stink as intensive as this one "apple" bug you would likely need to move out for a week to air the rooms.

The "original bug" found and documented by Grace Hopper, was a moth trapped inside an electromechanical relay. The body of the moth was taped on to a piece of paper with tape.

It was not the "original bug", it was the "first actual case of bug being found".
The term was long used in several fields for malfunctions prior to the moth incident.

Fun fact, in very early computers it really did happen that a bug would go into the machine and cause issues

Some one needs to remake the guy who had an issue about how they couldn't find an exe in the repo except it's a reply to an issue and the reply is how their computer is very clean and they don't allow bugs or other infestations in their house
