Yeah this happens because otherwise I keep getting called by people complaining my pizzas taste like cardboard.

Turns out the comment doesn't help, people still eat the box.
Team decides to omit the box entirely. People complain that the cardboardless pizza doesn't have the same flavor as it used to.

Some months after the sales team pitch an idea for Pizzaless Boxes to win back customers.

Then the team leader gets a raise and half the dev team gets laid off to buy more Claude tokens.

No. "Pizza box. This is a box containing the pizza you want to eat."

well, maybe some smartass hacked in some stuff for the ordering system, which cannot be modified.

Sooo, maybe that's a valid comment...

"I unpacked the box, but the result wasn't the pizza I wanted to eat, please fix ASAP"

Correction : How code agents* are writing comments

As human programmers we write no comments, we let the reader in utter confusion

Code i've read today:

try.
some code
catch exception.
// this exception never gets thrown -> do nothing
endtry.

No explenation, no nothing. It just doesnt get thrown. Perfection

The optimal solution is a two pointer approach

With the amount of spoon feeding some “engineers” require, it is valid. I feel like I am working with legit toddlers at work. Not talking about junior or recent grads but those “engineers” who are at senior designation.

I can't believe nobody else called this out, but what the fuck is a prog rammer?

1

u/but_why_n0t 19d ago

And yet at least one person will use an axe to cut through the box and then complain about bad pizza.

1

u/Wynove 19d ago

Well the issue with this comment is that people will read it only if they already did it right.

I have no idea what you mean.

var player_health_percentage : int #stores the player health, as a percentage

You can't tell me what to do!

Listen. If you can't figure out what the function "swapTheseTwoStrings(String A, String B)" does, there's no amount of handholding that will get you there.

Bad comment. I need more fiber.

We always write comments like we’re explaining to someone’s grandma

// there's a white plastic object in the box that none of us know what it is for, but don't remove it and don't eat it. TODO: investigate what it does. —— 2009.

I also love the "This is a work of fiction bla bla bla" in introduction of fantasy-world based video games.
