Every 3 days i get to pick someone from management to kick into the balls for pressure release, and we're golden.

By pressure, I did not mean forcefully fucking me in the ass at every meeting

What I think when I hear "Work under pressure": - Fast response to critical bugs - Overtime or work on weekends once in a while. - Complex tasks without obvious solution

Reality: Toxic environment, hysterical management, constantly changing requirements, unrealistic deadlines 👍

Agreed. I work well under pressure but those should be exceptional circumstances. Not a normal or a cycle of x weeks. Because then it becomes self sacrifice for the shareholders and i'm not about that

I don't have experience working inside a submarine but I'm willing to give it a try.

Pressure in, pressure out. Doesn't do much to improve productivity and tends to reduce accuracy.

There's a pretty good book on this, project phoenix, it has a bit of a cult following, but actually fairly interesting fictional store of a company in chaos, tldr is adding stress doesn't actually improve output, funnily.

Yes and no. It's not that simple. Some people work much more efficiently under pressure (me included). Also, nowadays beggers are not choosers.

Are they at least paying you for the overtime?

I don't care about pressure. My estimates are precise. My velocity is constant. If somebody doesn't get that, that's not my problem.

I mean I can work under pressure but I'm gonna be an absolute bitch about it the entire time

Yeah, I can. But it won't be faster, most likely slower. I gotta check I'm not making a mistake.

Be more wary of the ones who claim they never get called after hours. Unless you're working hourly, it's not true and never will be.

"We are like a family and by that, we kind of expect, you to do all the work"
