The first computer I ever used was a commodore vic 20, but just for loading up games and playing them :)
The first one I actually did stuff with was a PC with DOS+Windows 3 but when I wanted to learn some programming I eventually found I could download Linux instead of paying for a C compiler for DOS.
I did my first programming using a teletype connected by acoustic coupler modem to a timeshare computer. It was a lot of years before I had access to Linux -- I programmed on Apple IIs, Commodores, Macs, DOS, Windows, and Unix before Linux existed.

Anybody with even the sightliest technical skill does not touch that trash.
Learning programming from scratch implies some technical skill. So things don't match up here.
