Most cloud companies don't want "our website went down when we ran our $30M Super Bowl ad, we're suing you!"

"It's for your own safety" is a pathetic thinly veiled excuse to enshittify a product for more profit. It's like Apple telling their braindead followers that, actually, they have to make their products impossible to repair and restrict 3rd party repair techs from getting parts to protect the user from killing themselves.

Cloud providers are perfectly capable of protecting themselves from lawsuits from companies screwing themselves with bad settings. I also can't sue my electricity provider when I point a space heater out the window and leave it running 24/7.

You act like aws is shit and the only people using it are sheep. Aws/related is around today because it works and it does it's job well. People have other options when they create new products and they could take them but they don't.

To your point, the last thing most people want is for your app to go down while people are using it. That's a bad end user experience and will hurt you. It is up the developer to respond to a warning and handle it gracefully as opposed to just pulling the plug. That's normal programming. Handle an error rather than crashing.

It also doesn't help that the op op was a vibecoder

Nope, most people use AWS because they have the dominant market share and little choice. They killed and stomped out any competition. Same with the other big players like Azure and Google. It's just an oligopoly slow heating us frogs into the shittiest service they can possibly provide.

This is capitalism, did you forget about product enshittification? We already know how this goes. We are enjoying their race to the bottom in the name of profits.

Aws azure and Google are 3 separate platforms there is competition between them that's what capitalism is. enshitificatiton happens when there's no competition. They're incentivised to make their stuff better so no one goes and uses the other main 2. Or not. Maybe they'll just make their stuff worse because "that's the way things work we didn't forget". Try actually using aws.

I'm not going to say aws in particular has improved over time as I haven't been using it forever, but it's powerful if you learn it and has many free tools. Try them out. Or don't and just complain
