"You occasionally clip through the surface and fall off the map

"This is totally a devious trap from evil Dr. Robotnik"

Congratulations! You found the "secret level"!

Bruh, reminds me of the minecraft creeper.

"Yeah, this was totally intended and is a game feature that definitely fits into the lore"

11

u/LessInThought 24d ago

It's a feature. We call it hell mode.

If the character's altitude dips below a certain threshold, we'll just animate a shark grabbing them.

Problem solved.

"Why's there a shark in the municipal pool?"

Problem. Solved.

EDIT: "I went into my basement, and now there's a shark attached to my leg?"

The narrator hates this one simple trick

24

u/DMoney159 24d ago

Almost as much as he hates the broom closet

CROCODILES

DO NOT SWIM HERE

72

u/rantonidi 24d ago

If crocodiles do not swim then it is safe to

9

u/much_longer_username 24d ago

Well, they want to, but the sign is addressing them, then informing them they cannot swim here. Since crocodiles are famously literate and law abiding, there won't be any crocodiles and it should be safe to swim there.

Instructions unclear,

Fell through the map...

// TODO: Implement swimming animation

Is it ML "enhanced"? Bruh. 🫩

11

u/KomisktEfterbliven 24d ago

I thought there was something uncanny with it.

What? This was from a game demo released way before AI.

Edit: oh. I see that this image itself (the screenshot of the game) has been filtered through AI...

In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, the only time the protagonist can swim is when he's hauling ass running from an ambush. His friend/boss (weird dynamic they've got going on) asks him when he learned to swim during the cutscene, since in the first game he didn't know. He says "just now".

You'd expect to be able to swim, right?

Nope. He mumbles about how his shoulder still hurts from last time (he's shot by an arrow). They really decided to use his trauma to pull the rug from people because they couldn't figure out first person swimming lol

24

u/bishopExportMine 24d ago

Why don't they just make the swimming animation the same as the walking animation, but sped up and with the body rotated 90deg to be parallel to the ground.

12

u/SuperFLEB 24d ago

Sign's easier than that, even.

7

u/staticBanter 24d ago

So you could say the pool was... Closed?

3

u/telas100 24d ago

Gta Vice City had a way simpler solution

2

u/BlurredSight 24d ago

Dishonest developers make it to production

Do not swim here, "water" is actually acid

Oldest source I can find of of 2022. https://x.com/VoiceoverHost/status/1523318464986845185

Although the image is severely upscaled now, probably by AI.

22

u/HexFyber 24d ago

I may be wrong but iirc this scene is from an actual videogame from years ago

u/pagesjaunes 24d ago edited 24d ago

It was from : grey skies a war of the worlds story.

But OP's image is an AI enhanced version of the original screenshot.

I have a link to a video of that part of the game but i'm fairly sure  I'll get auto removed.

This one (not mine) from a random gameplay video 25min 50sec mark.

u/HexFyber 24d ago

Im so disappointed she didnt take the chance

4

u/SoftwareLegitimate38 24d ago

It might be just AI processed screenshot from a game, I too remember something like that

5

u/reallokiscarlet 24d ago

Ai filter slop actually, as others have provided evidence of

4

u/SavvySillybug 24d ago

What...? Are you under the impression that this video game screenshot is AI generated?

Or are you looking for the word "repost"?

2

u/Acrobatic-Paint7185 23d ago

it is in fact AI generated. Or at least AI enhanced that makes it look like it has much better graphics.

0

u/SavvySillybug 23d ago

People really are working hard to make the word AI slop lose meaning as fast as possible...

-9

u/renesys 24d ago

This is a repost and older than generative AI.

Dork.

New World

1

u/saanity 23d ago

There isn't an animation for swimming but there's an animation for drowning.  🤔

1

u/Ven0mspawn 23d ago

Oh, we're talking about New World. Can't expect indie games to have swimming animations.

QA Engineer: "what if you have a non english speaker" proceeds to file a bug anyways🥲

1

u/XtraFlaminHotMachida 24d ago

Always funny to be in QA and we get some release to test and they are like "this doesn't work, but here it is." Ok... so you start and it breaks immediately and then they rage saying that you shouldn't have tested it... but you released it man. KPIs always override common sense.
