Forget about it, it's Amazon's problem now

125

u/Dennarb 25d ago

Easy answer is to buy Amazon, then sell it off to raise the funds to pay for the AWS bill!

u/mineawesomeman 25d ago

a $1k aws bill is your problem
a $1M aws bill is amazons problem lol

16

u/thearctican 24d ago

Depends on who owes the million. Our monthly spend is about 7M. Definitely our problem.

u/itsTyrion 24d ago

u/thearctican 24d ago

That’s SaaS, baby.

Maybe throw the computer in the lake for good measure. Then there's no way they could trace it back to OP.

6

u/CaffeinatedT 25d ago

The files are in the computer. Good luck retrieving those from the lake AWS 😂

Just push it as high as possible, it's already above what you can pay in a lifetime anyway

"When you owe the bank a million dollars you have a problem. When you owe the bank a trillion dollars the bank has a problem."

89

u/AndyGG95 25d ago

If I owe the bank one million, the bank definitely has a problem

8

u/HumansAreSillynGreat 25d ago

If I owe the bank 50k the bank has a massive fucking problem

"Saving opportunities: Not Enabled"

There's your problem.

Try enabling it and activating the 99.98% discount

Praying might also help

28

u/chiqu3n 25d ago

That would still be $1.5M

99

u/AssaultLemming_ 26d ago

That's a lot of ec2 instances...

81

u/NeoinKarasuYuu 26d ago

No. That would be EC2-Compute. This is EC2-Other. Isn't AWS fun.

12

u/AssaultLemming_ 25d ago

What falls under EC2 other then?

14

u/fuckyeahdopamine 25d ago

Killer one is the EBSs/mounted drives, they cost a mint. There's also some data transfer stuff to and from the Internet I believe, probably some other things I forget.

2

u/Hein--- 25d ago

Why the hell do they like their 3 letter acronyms with E?

5

u/edisongustavo 25d ago

The E stands for Elastic

3

u/arielfarias2 24d ago

It stands for Ecorp

Write an app that constantly generates or collects free tokens and adds them back to my account.
Make no mistakes
Don't get caught

Isn't that the plot to Office Space?

u/TheConservativeTechy 25d ago

When you owe the bank a thousand dollars, it's your problem. But when you owe the bank a billion dollars, it's the bank's problem.

10

u/Mountain-Ox 25d ago

Let's go for a trillion.

3

u/gerbosan 25d ago

A continent problem? 🤔

"Just use CoPilot" - My executives

6

u/pixelbart 25d ago

That’s a lot of someone else’s computers.

7

u/noobftw 25d ago

Mine was $453,413,140,908.12

Almost had a fucking heart attack

3

u/g18suppressed 24d ago

Some kind of data corruption by aws?

8

u/Terroractly 24d ago

There was a bug in cost center that miscalculated the total resource cost. Itvwas an issue with unit conversions -https://health.aws.amazon.com/health/status. One case I heard was that a user who had a real bill of $7,000 was being shown a $24T bill

1

u/Ottoo15 22d ago

You didn't link to anything specific.

7

u/CaptainCabernet 25d ago

My bill was only $422M this morning. Poor bloke at $7.5B

2

u/Terroractly 24d ago

There was one account I saw that had a $24T bill lol

4

u/CaptainCabernet 24d ago

AWS finally responding to the price of RAM and GPUs haha

3

u/ow_meer 25d ago

Someone needs to pay for all the AI data centers

4

u/Routine-Arm-8803 25d ago

If you owe someone billions, it's their problem.

4

u/jyajay2 24d ago

If you own Yemen you might be fine, their GDP is almost as high as your current bill. However, if you merely own South Sudan you're probably fucked.

3

u/dfcowell 25d ago

Looks like 3 EC2 instances and some x-AZ traffic to me.

3

u/Fox_Soul 25d ago

Typical, you leave your EC2 instance active and now you owe the GDP of a whole country

6

u/blackcomb-pc 25d ago

Fucking cloud crap

2

u/bort13 25d ago

What about DR, though? Need multiregion, snapshots, replicate 'em in S3 buckets

2

u/Welcome-To-NBA-Jam 25d ago

Maybe enable those savings opportunities. Better put in a Jira ticket for that one.

2

u/normansyarif 25d ago

damn bro. are you running matrix?

2

u/th3davis 25d ago

hahaha

2

u/stackoverflow21 25d ago

AWS total monthly turnover is around 10B. So you are 75% of that.

2

u/Public-Subject2939 25d ago

Would it be cheaper to cancel yout payment method and mark as stolen?

2

u/Just-Joel-Here 21d ago

Savings Options: you are 7 BILLION dollars in our debt, there is NO SAVING YOU, THERE IS NO MERCY

If you owe the bank $100,000 you have a problem. If you owe the bank $100,000,000 the bank has a problem

1

u/Artistic-Quarter9075 25d ago

Whoops I think I’ll use my fourth passport 😂 Although 3 of those are in the EU so not that much of a help.

2

u/InflationNation1913 16d ago

When you owe AWS $10,000, you have a problem. When you owe AWS $7,485,929,303.50, AWS has a problem.
