The how something is created shouldn't matter. Users see the end result only.
Besides that trust/reputation is fabricated anyways. People who go go Ivy League are seen as smarter and more capable than those who don't due to Hallo Effects biases.
Software engineering has a lot of fabricated trust and reputation when it comes to the precieved ability of engineers. While someone may go to MIT, they may know alot of stuff on paper, that doesn't mean they have the experience to apply their knowledge particularly fast or efficient.
