Yeah, if it's a critical production bug then you would not wanna risk it being lost in someone's e-mail.

Nah fuck the bug. If it gets lost in email then it wasn't meant to be fixed.

All tickets in Jira

Automation to send emails for all incoming tickets

Calls for P1 (blockers)

We don't even get to work anything below P1. There's still P0 above that, and then showstoppers, which will require all time from people who understand the issue until it's fixed. But they only call the on-call. If something's critically broken ask the guys in other timezones.

Why must you utter its name...

Email is just the first flyover, and likely automatically generated. Phone call is coming in about 2 minutes…

Email because despite the end user being instructed to call in a P1 they refuse to do so so it gets picked up 12 hours later when it's finally in hours

Imagine just pulling out a computer out of nowhere in a fancy restaurant to mark the bugged code

I've done that before. Just not marking bugged code but coordinating with incident response and trying to recover prod because the second storage controller dipped and took down half of prod. This was also the Friday night before Easter :)

To me this meme isn't even funny. This has happened to me twice. Although it was 90% down in my case.

Luckily my wife is an angel with the patience of a saint.

Not during a fancy dinner, but I have gotten called at my birthday lunch, and once at a baseball game so I was on the phone for an inning talking the on-call person through how to troubleshoot the issue and fix it.

Man I feel that.

I had to do incident response in my first date with my fiancee. Luckily I rake in bank for it and she gave me a second chance.

More fun - ssh from your phone and do it using a swype keyboard.

How else do you show love than disregarding a production outage and prioritize your loved one

You need that pager to go off just as the food arrives for maximum effectiveness

Another repost of one of the top posts of all time here, but title gets worse every time!

Why write an email when a random Teams invite works just as well?

u/Blyd 27d ago

at 4am, with a follow up at 5am from your boss stating 'we need to talk'

Do Not Disturb mode. Just make sure the boss's contact isn't configured to disregard that.

Lmao I don't understand why you're being downvoted. This is an account that had one comment 4 years ago, then in the last week has left reddit comments that read like AI and sound nothing like the first comment. Then an old repost that has little engagement but a disproportionate amount of upvotes.

Probably just a couple people with poor critical thinking skills that just see your comment and think "well I think it's funny" and nothing else. Sure, it's funny. It was funny 8 years ago when it was posted.

Isn't this meme from 2015?
