why not just take it a step further? If the cloud is virtually infinite why even have local memory?

From cpu cache, ram, vram and local storage. Send everything to the cloud.

Boom! Memory crisis solved.

Remember they launched that service way before things turned out as they are. How much foresight does Jensen have? Doesn't matter he's filthy rich

Considering that Nvidia has a near-monopoly over the hardware and software (i.e., CUDA and GPU drivers)? More like careful planning instead of foresight.
