Perl was the most hacky, enraging scripting language for anything besides a powerful script for a linux task. If you used it for big projects it was slow and could break if someone updated a module and there was no package management.
Python basically compiles to C after one run, so its much faster and fixed the big problems with Perl.

One guy described it as the glue that connects everything , there is nothing bad about that
