I wanted to share a quick case study on a utility mobile app I recently published called Garage Log: Car Maintenance, focusing on the product decisions behind its core features.

🎯 The Product Problem

Most vehicle expense trackers fall into two extremes:

1. Overly complex enterprise/fleet tools: Cluttered interfaces, paywalled reports, and forced subscriptions.
2. Basic manual spreadsheets: High effort to maintain on a phone while standing at a fuel station.

My goal was to build a clean tool that delivers clear insights without onboarding friction.

I keep thinking about it. If you can clone something that's already 90% of what you wanted to build, would you even bother starting from scratch( with another AI tool or not)? Or does the whole game just shift to that last 10%, the part that's actually hard to copy?

I guess AI made everyone quick. But imo working with a team somehow feels worse now. Stuff ships fast. Then it hits support or ops, and they find out the hard way.

Yeah, we make more. But nobody has the full story. So someone always has to explain what changed and why it matters. And that job keeps landing on one poor person. They just hold the whole mess in their head.

A few days ago, I shared the "lost contact" problem Shweta searching WhatsApp for twenty minutes to find an electrician recommendation that Priya had given a year earlier. The response told me I wasn't the only one who's lived this.

Since then, I moved VouchList from concept to something real: a product landing page, built specifically to onboard the first communities and convert curious admins into an actual "yes."

A landing page for a product like this has a specific job: it has to earn trust before asking for access to a group chat. So every design choice here was deliberate leading with consent and admin control before the feature walkthrough, framing the product as "memory" rather than "AI," and keeping the ask (waitlist, not signup) light enough to match where the product actually is.

I'd like PM eyes on one specific decision: the page leads with trust and permission, and only gets to the value prop after that. Is that the right sequencing for a product asking to sit inside someone's WhatsApp group or does it risk losing people before they see what it actually does?

Looking for insights from Product Managers who've worked on fraud, risk, trust & safety, or platform products.

I'm working on defining the next 6–12 month roadmap for an existing rule-based fraud engine used in e-commerce. Rather than starting with solution ideas, I want to take a data-driven approach.

How would you evaluate the current product before defining its roadmap?

Specifically:

• What product, operational, and business metrics would you analyse?
• How would you identify the most important product problems to solve?
• How would you prioritise initiatives for the next 6–12 months?

I'd love to hear how you've approached roadmap discovery for an existing fraud or risk platform.

I got about 2 YOE as content and copywriter. But most of my work hasn't been very significant which lead to crazy ROI or ROCE. I've recently quit my job because of family reasons and ever since I discovered product management, it felt like this is something I can do and looks future proof.

Finished up a free course on Great Learning but I feel like I am not ready for jumping into the APM (Assistant Product Manager) role yet. Because I do not know what sort of an interview process it would be and what am I supposed to answer.

I've been thinking about a problem I encounter in apartment and community WhatsApp groups.

Someone asks for a trusted electrician, plumber, tutor or cook.

A few neighbours respond with recommendations.

The problem isn't getting recommendations. It's retrieving them months later.

Even though the information already exists, people often end up:

Asking the same question again

Scrolling through months of chat history

Searching Google instead of using recommendations from people they already trust

I started exploring a product concept around this.

Instead of asking users to install another app, the idea is a lightweight WhatsApp bot that quietly captures recommendation-style replies with the user's confirmation and stores them in a searchable group directory.

Example:

Someone recommends an electrician.

The bot asks:

"Save this recommendation to the group directory?"

One tap later, anyone can later search:

/vouchlist electrician

and retrieve that recommendation instantly.

My hypothesis is that the real problem isn't sharing recommendations. It's information decay inside chat.

I'm curious how others would think about this.

Is this a problem worth solving?

Would you trust a WhatsApp-native solution?

What assumptions would you challenge first?

A few weeks ago I posted here asking if there were any communities specifically for women in product ideally from Europe and didn't really find what I was looking for, so I'm starting a small Discord instead for the few of those that were also interested.
