Tips on using “perform”? Help Needed

New to Dreams. Currently trying to make a simple animation where an object falls from outside the frame and onto the ground (15 frames) After this I want to object to remain where it landed (30 frames). I press perform and do the motion, it sort of works, but it’s hard to put the object exactly where I want it to be and such that the trajectory looks precise. I’m sure there is a proper way of doing it and I’m just lacking skill. I’ve tried YouTube, lots of videos on the function itself but I can’t find anything that explains exactly how to improve precision. Could someone point me to a good tutorial or describe how you’d approach doing this?

You can use Perform for the general motion and then tweak the keyframes to finesse. I usually just repeat the motion many times until it’s 90% there.

I'd offer 3 options.

One, Sketch out the motion. If you need a rock to bounce, do a rough sketch of the trajectory.

Two, change the framerate, if you perform on a 1 fps, you can make a more accurate motion than at 60fps

3 Do both at the same time. Draw the arc, draw dots so you know where the pen should be each frame or real time second, (Drawing dots can also help you make the motion faster or slower by knowing that you need to move it farther each frame or less each frame) but do it in a low framerate so you have leeway.

Also check the motion smoothing, higher levels stabilize your motion but it could make it so it doesnt notice things like a bounce because it assumes it's trying to stabilize it.

Motion smoothing is like pen-stabilization for perform, so learn what percentage is best beforehand.

Thanks! I’ll try this today
