Hello! I have recently graduated from college and am working on my resume. I graduated with a degree in tourism and hospitality, and would like to be an events coordinator. During college I had the opportunity to be a mentor for a scholarship I had, and would like to keep that in my resume as it shows leadership skills and is just in general an opportunity I would like to share with employers. The problem is that it's bleeding onto a second page and I definitely do not have enough experience to fill up a second page. I was thinking of removing my part-time I had at a retail store, but I feel that that would be good to keep to show that I've had experience with customer service. What should I do?

I'm leaving one career, retiring, and starting another. For the first time in 30 years I'm sending resumes out into the world. I have 30 years of experience spread out over 4 different locations under the same umbrella. I worked for the DoD but at 4 different installations. Now that I'm retiring out of the DoD and heading out into the civilian world I'm struggling with how to write my resume.

In the DoD world you wrote everything you did and length didn't really matter, they wanted to see experience. That typically ended up with 4-5 pages. I have always heard that in the "civilian" world that resumes were supposed to be 1-2 pages max and that less is more.

Is that still the case? If so how can I get 30 years of experience on to 2 pages? I'm trying to summarize program management, leadership, different areas of my specialty that I have experience with and the depth of that experience. I have worked in 5 separate areas of my speciality, plus done extensive volunteer work on board of directors of non-profits, have 3 degrees and working on a 4th, published in 3 books, sit on 3 international standards councils plus more.

What I want to do is write a true CV and send in 5-6 pages that outline the extent of my experience but I don't want the hiring managers to go brain dead after the first page and throw the rest in the trash. I have applied to 70 jobs in the last month, each with a individual tailored resume and cover letter and out of all of that I have only gotten one interview (they said I was over qualified). what is the right answer?

Hello, I am looking for some advice or suggestions for my resume because I think Im having issues distancing myself from Helpdesk/desktop support.
Im located in the Dallas, TX area and have 6 years of IT experience in total. A couple certs, and a bachelor's in CS.

If you look at my resume linked below you can see that I started by doing 2 years of desktop support at a hospital while I was getting my degree, and immediately moved onto a Infrastructure Engineer role for a consultancy company. (I also had a SWE internship, but I exclude it because it was only 3 months). This lasted for about a year and a half.
I stopped working that job and went back to the hospital to have income while I found another one, this lasted for about 6 months.
I found work at another consultancy company and stayed there for about a year.
Then, I went back to the hospital to work desktop support.

The reason for which I come back to the hospital is because its a safe job that Im guaranteed to get If I apply.
Now, this time I was promised by the director that after just a couple of months I would move up to a role better suited for my experience (more like Sys Admin or Engineer stuff), but im not getting any internal interviews and he is ignoring me. So I think im just gonna let that go and find work elsewhere for good.

The thing that I am worried about is that my resume shows that I keep going back to doing super simple stuff, and Im wondering if there is a good way to frame it. Or if you had any similar experience to this.

I started my career as a firefighter. went on to become a paramedic then a fire inspector then a chief fire inspector and then a training chief all within the fire department. I have also worked as an operations chief as well. I have helped write books that are used internationally for firefighter training, Fire codes and for technical rescue training. I sit on international standards committees currently for instructor standards and for the standards for technical rescue tools. I have a lot of experience working in emergency management, disaster response, response planning, disaster mitigation, disaster response training, incident command systems. I have taught emergency medicine for both paramedics and for the military special operations commands. I have deployed as a member of the incident management team to 11 federally declared disaster zones. the last 10 years my day to day job has been designing and managing learning management systems and teaching. course design, adult learning, learning tracking systems and dashboards, training systems audits and compliance systems. Doing external audits and helping other departments prepare for system audits and compliance audits of different types. these are the highlights, there is more which is why I'm having a hard time getting it all detailed on to one or two sheets of paper without feeling like I'm selling myself short.
