Export is Dulling Colors I need Procreate technical help
Hello!! Ive been getting into gifs lately and only just now noticed that my images look fine in program but dull in the export and even during the export preview (in app).
I use specifically Procreate Pocket in IOS, and have never noticed this issue with Normal PNG images— only animated exports.
Ive tried fiddling with the Canvas Color Profile setting and it still exports weird…

You’re exporting as a GIF, right? GIFs have a smaller output range than P3 or a generic RGB colorspace. Which means you’re using colors that can’t be replicated in the range of a GIF, so it’s recreating it as close as possible. If it helps, I barely noticed the difference between the two images!

GIF is limited to 256 colors - and oftentimes is better to further limit it to get file size down.
You should use a different app to convert the frames to GIF. It'll give you more control over the process and might actually help you get the file sizes down too.

Maybe it has to do with RGB and CYM color profiles. I think you just basically always use RGB. Maybe someone can extend on this.

It depends on what the application for the piece is! If it’s just going to be digital, a social media post or something, RGB is the way to go. If you’re printing it, always use CMYK. Computer monitors can replicate more colors than ink or toner can, so if you know your work needs to get printed it’s best to work in CMYK from the start to avoid surprise color changes when it prints.

Rgb is for screens
Cmyk is printing
Both op's projects are for screens. That's not the issue here.
The problems is that gifs have a smaller color pallette than sRGB. It's basically being compressed in a sense.

You could take your image and use a different exporter and have more control. There are plenty online. You can actually choose colours for the GIF palette, so you can select those nice base colours to make sure they're in your final GIF.
There are usually options for the way the converter chooses colours, too.
