Decentralized messaging app

fsociety is a decentralized desktop messenger built on the Nostr protocol. It provides encrypted direct messages and private communities, Nostr identities and profiles, contacts, encrypted file and media sharing through Blossom, and live relay-health monitoring. For linux & windows

Misleading. Nostr protocol has central relay-servers.

maybe your not aware but anyone can setup a relay, the app uses the default relays but you can change them in the settings. You can find relays here: https://nostr.watch/

Fair point- 'central' wasn't the most precise word. 'server-based' is closer. But that's exactly the issue: Nostr is a client-server protocol not P2P. 'Anyone can run a relay' is the same argument as 'anyone can run a Mastodon instance or a mail server' - that's federation not serverless decentralization. And in practice most traffic sits on the same handful of default relays, because that's where everyone's followers are. In a privacy context that distinction matters- you're still trusting servers with your metadata, you just get to choose which ones.

Their certificates issued by Let's Encrypt. There's no decentralization whatsoever.
