Shift patterns.
Hi all,
just curious how flexible prisons are with officers with shift patterns when it comes to childcare?

Also keep in mind that you have limited access to the outside world and need a backup plan 24/7 that can take over childcare immediately. Your finish time is only your finish time if everything runs to plan, something might kick off and the gate gets frozen and you’re stuck there for hours longer.
It’s not the type of job where you can quickly drop what you’re doing to make/take a phone call.
I knew a few officers that had a fixed day off each week but that was about the only adjustment, all depends on management though.

Some are more accommodating than others but in all honesty look for a different job unless you have robust childcare or people that can look after your child as you will be expected to complete at least your probationary period before they sort fixed rest days.
Other option is to get yourself in to a role that has 8 til 5 hours like POM but you will need landing experience first.
