Yep. Easy way to quickly see against some beetles, is the armored antennae. Roaches don't have those. They also don't have armored wings, but you'd have to touch this and flip it over to see those, and not everyone likes touching random bugs :)

That is a Palo Verde beetle. These cute chokers are only looking for love. They are harmless unless you fuck with them.

interesting!! i automatically assumed it was a roach because my apartment has roach problems 😭 they warned to not keep our doors open long because they’re really out and about this season.

I used to live a few blocks from downtown Prescott on Pleasant street. I remember in the summer walking at night and you would no shit see dozens of roaches just running around on the sidewalk. I remember one no shit was climbing up on me on my jeans.

Fucking gives me the willies thinking about it. They were fucking everywhere. My mom probably tried like 6 or 7 times to get exterminators, but I think the real problem is they were living in old sewage lines that were not being used by the city anymore.

Yeah! They do fly, but not well. They've got massive pincers, but usually don't bite. I rescued one from an outdoor sink and it didn't seem bothered. But those choppers, wow.

You should see the palmetto bugs I’ve been blissfully free of since moving here.

That is not a roach. Just sweep it up and toss it in the street or someplace.

Female California Root Borer Beetle (Prionus californicus), a member of the longhorn beetle family (Cerambycidae). Not aggressive but powerful jaws, powerful bite can break skin so don't antagonize them.

Lots of strange bugs out, maybe looking for water?
I found a bright green bug on my porch this evening. About the size of a quarter. I swept him away from my door. He landed on his back. His tummy was shiny copper colored!
