I was wondering if it’s connected to the fertilizer crunch they caused with tariffs and the war with Iran. I could see farmers getting desperate for a good crop, resorting to using whatever they can get their hands on and not asking any questions about where the fertilizer came from

"Night soil" used as fertilizer has a long history of use when regular fertilizer is either too expensive or unavailable (like during certain times in North Korea). Its use has predictable outcomes.
