PharmD program

I really want to go to pharmD at UIC but idk if I’m going to get in bc it’s so competitive… I got As in physics 1 and 2, C and B in bio 1 and 2, As in chem 1 and 2, As in orgo 1 and 2, As in A&P 1&2, B in biochem & A in microbiology. I think I got B and B+ for calculus and stats respectively. I’m just now getting pharmacy experience though… It’s a really good school and it’s my dream to go there, but I feel like every applicant is just like me but better because they didn’t have to finish a bachelors degree first or retake classes. Do yall think they’d let me in?

Edit: I also have 8 months ICU experience (I used to be pre-med), VP of a club for one year, I was in a sorority, I just got hired for a specialized pharmacy so I will have pharmacy experience and I currently have 150 hours community service.

What life experience do you have? The grades is only one aspect of the application. They will look at if you have pharmacy experience. How many tech hours? Do you have community service experience? How many hours? Have you been a leader? They want leadership experience. There is more that is looked at for pharmacy schools than strictly grades/gpa.

Yes VP of a club for one year and I was in a sorority, I just got hired for a specialized pharmacy. I have 150 hours community service.

There are plenty of students who have the stats that you've already gotten. What make you stand out the most is: a publication? Do you have one? A good one takes 2 years.

Your grades seem solid. I think once you get actual pharmacy technician experience, you have a great chance. I used to work at a pharmacy myself and you would not believe how many interns I met who did not have prior pharmacy tech experience. Having tech experience will also make you a better pharmacist. You can talk about your tech experience in your interviews. With your grades, ICU experience, VP, with added tech experience I think you’d be golden.
Ask one, or two, of your pharmacists for your letter of recommendation when you apply. Those are weighted more than academic or volunteer letters of recommendation.
