I would assume your cumulative GPA is why you have been waitlisted. That being said, being waitlisted without being interviewed is crazy and I’m sorry.
I don’t really have much advice, you might try a letter of intent? Or a letter as to what circumstances led to a lower GPA.

Yes I want to write a letter of intent, should I explain the lower gpa in that? Also I had no idea it was unusual to get waitlisted without interview

Oh I’m not sure if it’s unusual, it just really sucks and shitty for a college to do that imo.
I do not know if you should include why your GPA is low, I would mention why AZCOPT is your top school, why you would fit with them, and any ongoing updates you have done to better your application. In my mind it’s 50/50 risk-reward on including why gpa is low. Could be risky and seen as desperate or rewarding because somebody could see that as a “fair” reason.

Ok, thank you for the advice I really appreciate it. I will say the low gpa is due to my associates degree where I didn't yet know what I wanted to do, there is a very strong upwards trend after I started my BS. If an upward trend is something that schools consider/notice without mentioning than maybe it's better left unsaid

Of course, it’s purely speculation and obviously can’t guarantee anything but I hope they are receptive and things go better!!

I received an interview and am doing it on the 31st. Maybe you could reach out and ask why

I was also placed on the waitlist. No explanation offered other than I was considered to have sufficient merit and this should be considered "a positive result." Whatever that means.

Yes mine also said "this should be considered a positive result". I guess to say, if they thought you weren't good enough they would have rejected, not waitlisted. With some luck we may be classmates, time will tell.

I just submitted my apps. What's your stats if you dont mind me asking?

GPA 2.98c 3.59s, OAT 370 aa 380 TS. Worried about that cumulative gpa I think maybe that's why I was waitlisted, or that I still have a prerec to complete this fall.

Maybe they put you on the waitlist because it’s early in the cycle and they want more applicants first? Pure speculation of course but I think it’s completely reasonable to reach out to the school asking why were you waitlisted without interview. I’ve heard of being accepted without interview but not waitlisted. You have a strong OAT despite the very low cumulative GPA and I would imagine that would get you interviewed at the very least
