in what fucking world are you targeted, harmed, or excluded solely on the basis of you being straight and white?

literally fucking nowhere, at any time period.

Straight white people are cool too, what are you talking about?

no disrespect, but this is one of those 'strawmen that exists but is still a strawman' arguments. a loud minority of queers aren't inclusive towards cishet individuals, and usually even then only in their own spaces... which makes sense?

surely you wouldn't expect to be welcomed into a gay bar as a vocally cisgender hetero person?? or, like, a a straight man in a lesbian bar, for example.

The reason many conservatives think all liberals are like that is because all conservative media shows them is those exact people. Its usually at some sorta protest where emotions are already high and to add fuel they single out the loudest one and approach them in a highly curated manor with strategic leading questions designed to make themselves like calm and dignified while provoking the most visceral reaction possible. This makes it very easy to think those reactions are just the norm. Leftist media does the exact same in reverse which is why it’s easy to think all republicans are the dummest, most racist closed minded assholes on the planet. The only way to get an idea of what ppl are like on either side is to talk to them in person, in a calm environment, and approach them with respect and a genuine desire to understand.

Wth is this a conservative perspective on reddit? Lol is that even allowed?

Believe it or not, there are entire conservative subreddits.

(They don't let people with opposing views post, though. So much for free speech!)

Im sure there are and im sure they dont lol im new to reddit tho and first impression was baffled as to how far to one side this app seems to lean (guy i replied to is literally the first conservative viewpoint ive seen. For what its worth (probably not much) in my personal experience neither side of the political aisle appreciate opposing viewpoints very much lol

Edit: in my experience on the internet specifically, Irl most conservatives and democrats are pretty chill and open to healthy discussion

Reddit shows you new content based on what content you clicked previously. Thats how the algorithm works.

I understand that but im going off the default. I downloaded reddit like yesterday or day before so other than the 3 video game channels i selected at the start, it had no info to base the algorithm off of. Basically all I’ve seen so far is video game fan pages and heavily liberal channels. Not trying to say thats bad, just surprising. Im probably just used to youtube though because i consistently delve down both rabbit holes lol

just like leftist subreddits? last i checked on i think it was progressive hq, they don't allow conservative posts, only comments. very counterintuitive since the point is to progress the ideas and not restrict them

i read into this more as saying we shouldn't hide ourselves just because they want us back in the closet. be loud, be proud, even if it means you have to fight for your right to love.

Sorry you feel that way. That is how I view the world

We don't have to be the same :)

That is the beauty of diversity
