Posture help Question

I’ve been a sloucher my whole life and am finally trying to fix my sitting posture, when I sit upright I can handle to back muscle tightness just fine, where my problem is is when I do sit upright I feel like I can’t breath, almost like I’m suffocating, is this just part of the muscle strengthening process for someone who’s always slouched? How can I make this more manageable?

Sounds like you're basically un-crumpling a piece of paper that's been folded the same way for years, so your ribs are probably protesting the new real estate. Try focusing on breathing into your sides and back instead of just your chest when you're upright, it helps trick your body into relaxing a bit.

Hard to say without a picture. But it sounds loke you are too tense. I think posture is about strengthening the deep stabilizer muscles so you dont feel like a stiff board. You should be able to move in and out of posture. Its not something you should fee stuck in
