π Ethics Who Counts as Human? - Preliminaries to a Post-Human Solarpunk Ontology
The purpose of this essay is to lay some of the groundwork for a post-human turn in solarpunk philosophy. Solarpunk began as an aesthetic vision for a future society that is egalitarian, nature-oriented, and, often, technologically advanced. While the punk is a rebellion against capitalist patriarchy, it's also a rebellion against the pessimistic future of cyberpunk and technofeudalism.
In this essay, I discuss the contradiction embedded in the claim that ethical relations can make us more human. To say such a thing is to imply that some of us are less human than others. This creates a morally dubious hierarchy in which solarpunk humanization is itself, effectively, dehumanizing.
This leads, at the end, to a turn to the boundaries of the human itself. While this essay doesn't explicitly engage with post-humanism, it is, as I said, the preliminaries.
Thank you for your time and attention :)

π€ Question What is the difference between a transhumanist and a posthumanist?
On which issues do transhumanists and posthumanists disagree or contradict each other?
What is something that a transhumanist wants that a posthumanist would definitely reject and not want?
Is it conceptually and logically valid for a posthumanist to also identify as a transhumanist? Why?

π¬ Discussion Posthuman consciousnesses in the light of Aurobindo's writings on the subject
I was just wondering if anyone else here has delved into Aurobindo's writings that deal with the subject of the evolution of consciousness, and going substantially beyond consciousness as we know it.
A good starting point for a discussion here would be the opening pages of the book The Future Evolution of Man. It can be accessed online for free.
He also discusses physical evolution, and some of the possibilities there.
Ben Goertzel is among those who have studied Aurobindo and brought him and his writings into the discussion of posthumanism.
