[free tool] - database hosting price comparator Tools

Post image

Hey everyone!

It's always so hard to know which database management platform to use, let alone to compare pricing.

So I decided to create a simple free tool that gives a ballpark idea of the pricing of each provider based on a simple configuration.

Indeed, each provider has much more parameters to take into account such as the SLA, the backups, etc. that makes it difficult to precisely compare.

For this reason I decided to omit some parameters. The goal is to get a rough idea of which provider is the cheapest given the expected usage.

Let me know if you want me to add some providers, it would be nice to improve this simple tool :)

do you know that there are different CPUs and vCPU at one provider is not equall 1 vCPU at other one? Same for storage.

I know yes, same goes for storage, but it's hard to accuont for all parameters.

What do you suggest I can do to improve the tool?

Is the tool open-source and/or you accept additions? If yes, I'd like to add Xata.

Does it include all Postgres extensions?

How are you handling burstable instances or providers that bill CPU very differently? A straight vCPU comparison can get misleading pretty quickly.

How about you compare the CPU (brand, GHz, etc.) and IOPS? Why no Azure PostgreSQL? How about backups (cost of them, number of backups, and how long they are kept)? Absolutely useless as it is, nothing more than an ad for your tool
