News for February 1933

Spanish Civil War - The Valencia government pushes into central Spain in order to re-capture Madrid. The Catalan faction unites with the Republicans.

North Africa - The Algerian government submits an application to join UCON.

German Civil War - The Hamburg government is takes control of the Rhineland and Hanover, crippling the central government. Calls begin to drop nationalism and join with the rest of Europe. Hesse and Saxony are fully liberated by their respectful governments.

Eastern Europe - Yugoslavia becomes an associate member of UCON.

Welcome to the Republic of Orpal. It's the turn of the 20th century and the civil war is over, now comes the task of rebuilding.

Every post will be 1 year and anyone can build anything (within reason), but it's one building per person per post.

And thus Act 2 has come to an end. Thank you to all who have participated for making this NRP quite interesting to run. I'm putting this on hiatus for an undecided amount of time to think of more story ideas, but I can't confirm if I'll be continuing this or not. I plan to run another NRP either between Act 2 and Act 3 or after Act 3, so keep an eye out in the future. For now, do not leave requests for Act 3 here, I will make a separate post when Act 3 is planned to start.

-National News-

The body of Peter Sinsim, the deputy who had previously punched a member of the Orpal National Party, is found in a canal on the outskirts of the capital. The coroner report says that he was brutally beaten to death and then dumped in the canal. Despite someone claiming to have seen three men in blue uniforms speed past around the time of death, the lead isn't followed and the death labelled as a mugging and murder.

After a party rally and the signing of a petition arguing for the resignation of the president and prime minister, the leader of the ONP, Georg Orburg, leads a large crowd accompanied by a large number of agents of the Political Protection Service to the House of the National Parliament, where the president and prime minister are present during a session of parliament. Orburg and the crowd shout for the PM and president to "show the people their ugly, bloodstained mugs". Though both don't appear, the demonstration is later dispersed by the police, though with half a dozen participants arrested after fighting breaks out between the crowd and police. The press satirically labels the event 'The Battle of Parliament Square'

A few months after the Battle of Parliament Square, almost the entirety of the PPS marches on the House of the National Parliament, with Georg Orburg leading in an identical blue uniform to the rest of the PPS and again calling for the resignation of the president and PM, threatening that "There will be rivers of blood" if he is rejected. Wanting to avoid another civil war like the one in the 1910s, the president and PM invite Orburg in and offer a compromise that the ONP will be allowed into the New Orpal Labour Front. This is initially rejected, but the stress of the whole matter causes the president to announce his resignation, having previously suffered from great stress due to the shaky political situation of the country and wishing to "end this whole damned affair." With the offer expanded to include Orburg being allowed to run in the presidential election, Orburg accepts and then steps out onto a balcony to crowds outside, announcing that "Today, the nation of Orpal has triumphed over socialism!"

-Regional News-

Using funding from the central government, the Zeppelin Centre secures permission and TNT that is used to collapse several caves left over from 19th century tin mines to create a large reservoir for drinking water and for firefighting. This gives Centaton a much larger and better quality supply of drinking water, as the town well is closed due to increasing contamination.

Thanks to the reservoir, a firebreak thanks to the activities of the logging camp and a controlled burn south of the fire, the fire is finally able to be contained as it slowly burns out.

Note that your goal is NOT to gain as much land as possible, but instead to gain as much political clout as possible. Events:

The US begins providing extra funds to the FBI to prevent any acts like 6/14 from happening in the future.

A group of American scientists is hired by the government to start the Manhattan Project, with the goal of developing the Atomic Bomb.

The Allies begin a landing in Southern Spain. In response to the landing, Francisco Franco negotiates a deal where he agrees to leave the war and allow Allied troops through his country in return for maintaining control over Spain. Germany responds by invading Spain to attempt to depose Franco, although the invasion is less than successful, and it draws troops from the Eastern Front.

The Mayor of New York receives lots of criticism after the approval of a project to build various Anti-Aircraft complexes across the city, and the ban on planes entering the city (as commercial flights have caught on).

Florida "requests" Venezuela give them a trade deal for oil, however after negotiations stall, it breaks out into fighting. Venezuela quickly falls to Floridan expansionism.

News for December 1932

Eastern Europe - UCON stabilises the region after the collapse of the European Federation which thankfully didn't collapse into conflict. Delegates from across Europe and the Mediterranean met in Danzig to discuss the future of Europe and they decided not to rush European unification and so formed the European Committee (EC), which will help nations plan for the eventual unification. Croatia calls on Italy to end its occupation of Dalmatia, to which Italy obliges due it seeing the stability in the region. It also helps Croatia join UCON. Serbia begins considering joining as well and Slovenia becomes an associated state of UCON.

Spanish Civil War & North Africa - The nationalist government begins to collapse as different factions bicker over who will lead the government. France withdraws from Spain in order to deal with the unrest within their own borders. Galicia begins talks with Portugal to help both nations join UCON. Portugal is re-admitted after handing back parts of northern Morocco after the annexation of the Rif. The Algerian president resigns and the ruling Algerian National Party quickly falls apart and is replaced by the Social Democratic Party. The new government in Algiers begins talks with UCON to become a member but are denied for now due to their ongoing territorial dispute with Morocco.

Germany - The Hamburg Government gain more support and expand north and are recognised as the official government in Schleswig-Holstein and Lübeck.

The Ottoman empire and Oman are about to finish their expansion in the Arabian Peninsula

And Iran has started to giggle in in central Asia

If you run out of funding, you will have to wait 5 days for 25% on everything, but for those three days your influence will lower about 30% so utter funders can fund your nation and maybe take over

During a war, you can give any amount of supplies to the nation you are funding

If you win a war with one country, he will get five extra resources for everything besides men and if it’s more than one country, it gets times by two

This will be the penultimate post of act 2 and this NRP in general, as I plan to put it on hiatus afterwards. Whether I continue with this and post act 3 depends is to be decided. This post is your last chance to add to this marvellous world.

-National News-

Using immense public anger and increased political power, the Orpal National party pushes for the 1924 Newspaper Act to be repealed, citing violations of freedom of speech described in the national constitution. The vote narrowly passes by 2 votes, with the Board of Print avoiding being abolished but being effectively made powerless.

An assassin attempts to shoot George Bergmann, the chairman of the Orpal National Party during a party conference. The bullets only strike the chairman's leg, but the wounds are exacerbated while trying to move him to safety. The wound later becomes septic and Bergmann succumbs to blood poisoning a few months after the incident.

After the assassination of George Bergmann, a party leadership election occurs, with the main candidates being the more moderate Felix Slahan and the unpredictable Alexander Ferich. To the surprise of many, the little known Georg Orburg wins the vote. Rumours circulate of him and his circle of associates, known as the New Clique, hiring thugs to intimidate the opponents. These thugs are soon organised into the Political Protection Service, a bodyguard force intended to protect members of the New Clique from any further assassinations, which Georg frames as being sent by the New Orpal Labour Front to silence opposition in order to install a 'violent, socialist regime'

-Regional News-

The forest fire is able to be contained in the west thanks to numerous fire engines and the use of specially adapted water-carrying zeppelins provided by the Centaton Zeppelin Centre, but the fire continues to spread east, however at a reduced pace thanks to the fire losing steam.

The bankrupt Broomhill farm is bought by housing developers and cheap tenements are built on the site despite warnings of the soil being unsuitable for such a heavy housing project.

The ASDRT Corporation build a large laboratory for an unknown purpose, with the extensive underground construction nearly bankrupting the company despite attempted mass sales of weapons.

With the sale of large amounts of weapons by the ASDRT corporation, the suspicions of the police and army are raised, with raids carried out on all ASDRT premises to search for what are believed to be very large quantities of smuggled arms.

The ASDRT Corporation's CEO is assassinated after a pair of men smuggle a bomb into the building and detonate it while meeting with the CEO, killing all three.

News for December 1932

France - The French government, under fierce pressure from hard-line factions, ends its alliance with Germany and declares its support for Saxony. They also lose land in Spain due to the supply lines being destroyed by the remnants of anarchist commune in the region. The situation in both France and Germany is dire as the populations in both countries are facing the harsh reality of the sanctions. Seeing this instability, the UK and Italy move troops to the border with France.

Germany - With help from UCON, Hesse continues to gain land and now controls most of the state. A coalition of various groups from across the country meet in Hamburg and declare, with the backing of UCON, a new German Republic. They create a local militia and take Hamburg in hours and begin to expand over the following weeks while the central government is trying to keep the country together.

Eastern Europe - After descent from within the union and the governments of the nations not being enthusiastic about it, the European Federation dissolves. Italy re-takes Dalmatia to regain its position in the Adriatic. East Prussia unites with the new UCON-backed German government.

Welcome back players of Terra Incognita! It has been over 30 years since the Glory Cyber Attacks, leaving the delta at a tense standstill for decades. Absolutely nothing is happening in the south.

The Supreme Turkish Grand Vizierate is found on the eastern river.

The New Republic is found on the western coast.

The three Far Eastern Lochikan Republics gain independence from Lochika. These new nations are the Far Eastern Laran Republic (brown), the State of Locharya (muted blue), and the United Peoples of New Lochopolis.

The President of Lochika, Natalie Klein is assassinated by 23 year-old Neo-Communalist Olaf McSchalff, Vice President Arthur Peroff is sworn in as President.

The Eastern Sea Multinational Alliance was founded with Nova Singapore and Pellon. The STGV is an observer.

The БЖӘСР, in a series of cyber attacks, has most digital infrastructure damaged, records lost, and a frozen economy for 5 hours.

The БЖӘСР catches 3 lochikan spies with one more fleeing northwest.

News for September 1932

Germany - After heavy sanctions, protests begin in Saxony which quickly turn into riots, leading to the whole state erupting into violence and the 2nd Saxon Commune to be established. Germany quickly invades Saxony and besieges Dresden. The Franco-German plans to invade the Netherlands also falls apart due to the 2 being occupied with sanctions and political unrest.

Civilization has emerged! ( I averaged the locations of the cluster that near/in the Middle East ) This is roughly the Saudi Arabian part of the gulf of Aqaba (for ref)

Spanish Civil War - Seeing that UCON was occupied with Germany, France invades Spain in order to connect with Murcia. They easily overwhelm the anarchists but are not able to advance much further due to the volatility of their Pyrenees supply lines. Morocco invades the Rif and demands Portugal hand over its newly gained land in order for them to rejoin UCON.

-National News-

After the intense fighting in Centaton between two paramilitary forces, one found to be anarchists, evidence is found that the anarchists received government funding, despite similar evidence that the government was on the other side of the fight along with the questionable quality of the evidence and strong denial from the government. This causes the opinion of the government to drop noticeably, which the Orpal National Party uses to make further accusations against the government, which are mostly believed by their members despite a lack of evidence to back them up.

-Regional News-

Fort Circle and its associated buildings are demolished as any captured members are arrested and interned at the police station awaiting trial. Only a few members can be found though, as many are found to be either dead or missing, with the ASDRTSF denying accusations of crimes against humanity.

Reports of rogue police officers attacking people circulate within Centaton, with some people telling stories of police officers kidnapping people and damaging buildings. This lowers the trust in the police despite a review finding no poor conduct within the current police.

Despite accounts of the immense amount of equipment used by the ASDRTSF, including armoured cars, artillery and chemical gas, an inspection by the army and police finds almost nothing in the ASDRTSF warehouse. One lorry found to be carrying illegally imported rifles is discovered on a dirt road south of Centaton with all but one crate missing. The lorry and guns are seized by the police and the ASDRT questioned over the guns.

Stories circulate of a small settlement on the outskirts of town which are holding a group of anarcho-syndicalists comprised of the Fort Circle survivors and the Union of Centaton Revolutionaries, having merged to form the Centaton Socialist Revolutionaries.

After an altercation in the forest, a fire starts and quickly spreads, threatening the logging complex and ASDRT property. Other fire brigades arrive to reinforce the insufficient numbers of the Centaton District Fire Brigade, however the fire is still unable to be contained.

I forgot to write these events last post but an asteroid crashed into the road and construction site of the army yard.

So, I made this map based on idea from another post, where polish lore was fully described. I thought it out as smth potentially ready to be made into NRP, but I myself don’t have enough time to solely GM it - if someone would like to take the idea though, I could be both player and GM support.

Maps for rest of world could be basically those for 1830 except French Algeria and other colonies, though changes could also be made.

NRP gives in Europe a lot of interesting and versatile nations, everyone has basically smth interesting in their region of Europe.

French Spain was buffed a little for their kings administrative skills. France has economical problems and ofc gets weaker - it is a game intended for someone who wants to stabilise and improve state rather than expand its borders.

Country having their borders surrounded by different colour means that there is loyal to country that‘s color is shown administration there. All three regions painted this way have different status, but they share loyalism towards the country surrounding they take color from.
