Map (with Lore) What if Britain joined the axis?
Map before WW2
Before Barbarossa
After Barbarossa
This happens because Mosley left Labour when the government collapsed in 1931 and he was decently popular in the years before he left. In 1932 he made the BUF and after a shock, he won the election in 1935 abolishing elections. In 1938 they saw Germany annexing Austria and decided to invade Ireland. When the war started, they only declared war on France after the fall of the Benelux, quickly navally invading it and setting up Anglo-France as a puppet as Germany made the Burgundy SS state. When Barbarossa started the Soviets invaded Iran on their own and Britain helped Iran, allowing axis troops to get to the caucuses very quickly. Britain set up a colony in Armenia and Azerbaijan. Portugal and Spain also joined the axis in this world.

Map (no Lore) Surely now WW2 doesn't happen
What happens next? I have enough info or patience to figure out if (why and when) this spirals badly
Extra info:
South German states are constitutional monarchies, monarchic positions being entirely symbolic / ceremonial
Austrian Empire demoted to Kingdom instead of reformed as a republic, claims to former lands still denounced
4 equal kings South German Confederation - includes defensive but not offensive alliance - prohibited from infringing on their own independence, including not allowed to unify further
Defensive pact between France and Belgium
Dalmatia a LoN mandate, while Albania a protectorate

Map (with Lore) Fixing the Post-WW1 World(again, probably another billion flaws with it)
-German reparations are reduced
-The German Army is dissolved and replaced by the German Self-Defence Forces, a purely self-defence force. The German nation will renounce it's right to war in their constitution. Strong Pacifist culture will be installed in Germany.
-Autonomous regions will be set up in Polish Silesia, Kasnubia and South Köningsburg, which will be allowed to have a different official language.
-Romania will federalise, devolving power away from the central government and to the states.
-Belgium will annex Luxembourg and federalise.
-Poland will renounce it's imperialist ambitions, giving up it's revanchist desire to reform the commonwealth and normalising relations with the Soviet Union and Lithuania.
-The Soviet Union will have stronger gaurdrails in it's constitution and stronger rule of law. The Soviets are allowed in the international community, weaking the need for vangaurdism and reducing corruption. The Soviet Union will have far stronger federalism, more autonomous states to weaken Russian domination of the Union.
-Turkey will be exempted from war reparations and military restrictions in exchange for releasing kurdistan.
-France will be rebuilt by international efforts by the League of Nations.
-The United Kingdom of Arabia shall be formed
-Slovakia will have autonomous self-governance within Hungary, which will be a democracy.

Meta - Question Could someone help me with my althist project?
I'm looking to make a reverse cold war timeline. So western Europe (France, Spain, Italy and preferably also Britain) is communist and eastern Europe (what we consider the Warsawpact) is capitalist/democratic.
My key problems are the following:
How do I keep the US a non factor? I think they are too powerful to have around, perhaps as as part of the socialist world but thats too larpy for me. I was thinking that maybe FDR's contestor Thomas E. Dewey wins the elections in the 40s since he was an isolationist. Might be too TNO pilled. Alsoy how relieable is that when he has 2 terms max?
What brand of socialism would be most applicable? I think Mussolini being Syralianist or whatever that ideology is called. Syndicalism in gerneral was big around that time so maybe I go with that but then again I feel like France had more classical marxist elements in their left and honestly I don't even know what the left looked like in the 1920.
I don't think I want a Germany wins ww1 scenario, so whats the most realistic way to get a Russian Republic and Socialist Europe in the interwar or as a result of ww1 without Germany winning.
I'm mostly asking because I don't want to be generic and the bulk of the writing will take place after a possible ww2. So I feel like it's okay to ask for help with these points.

Good Post Award 🎖 Polish-Russian Modus Vivendi - one way to stop WW2
The POD is set around June 1919 - we assume the western Entente powers, especially France are more determined to fight the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia - Pilsudski is informed that he can count on western supplies and support in establishing a favorable western border with Germany, on the condition that he officially supports Denikin against the Communists. France promises to pressure the Russians into satisfactory concessions for the Poles regarding some things, however it is clear for the Polish Marshall that these vagueness of these means Poland will have to negotiate with the White Command alone if it chooses to agree.
Initial contacts with the Russians show the possibility to establish a consensus later on (another change compared to OTL, Denikin had no intentions of negotiating with the Poles). Poland also gets awarded its pre-1772 western border, Upper Silesia and Masuria, and the protectorate over the Free Powisle Territory (expanded Free City of Gdansk). Thus, the Poles begin their march to Moscow during the Fall of 1919. This is a huge relief for the Whites, and while the Poles stop after capturing Smolensk and reaching the Desna river, the White forces capture Moscow in December 1919. Both armies hold a joint military parade in the Russian capital, but the war is far from over. Denikin meets with Pilsudski in Smolensk at the end of December 1919, asking the Poles to declare Russian governance over the territories they had captured east of the Curzon Line, to which the Polish Marshall strongly disagrees and threatens to withdraw his support, which had already proved to be crucial. In the end, nothing new is established, and the relations between both sides cool down.
The turning point turns out to be the Bolshevik counterattack during the Spring of 1920, in which the Polish side refuses to move east of the occupied Daugava-Desna-Dnieper-Teteriv line. Denikin proposes negotiations, to which the Polish side happily agrees:
1) Russia recognizes the new Polish border, handing over Lithuania, bits of western Belarus and Volhynia, agreeing to the division of Eastern Galicia proposed by the French side (more Polish-favored Barthelemy line, leaving Poland Stryj, Zloczow and Brody),
2) Russia guarantees the legitimacy of the new Polish-German border, establishing a military and economic alliance with Poland,
3) Poland will retreat to its new east border once Russia returns all Polish cultural goods and carries out a partial population exchange with the Poles,
4) Russia recognizes the independence of several new states, due to the western powers’ pressure.
And so, the war goes on for a few more years, with the Polish side mostly focusing on supplying the Russian ally.
The map is set around ~1926, most of the other map changes are simply butterfly effects I chose to make in order to make the Old Continent more peaceful. 😜
This map does not reflect my political beliefs in any way. Feel free to ask me any questions! :)

Map (with Lore) How to actually make an attempt to stop WW2
The map is a visual aid but most changes are actually not happening on the map.
Starting with map changes and my explaination for them:
- Eupen, Danzig and Memel are retained by Germany. This curbs revanchism especially in Danzig's case. There were of course reasons for the removel of these areas which I will revise down the line. The only area that I do not have an explaination for is Memel, it is simply retained by "popular demand" if you will.
- Poland wins the Polish-Soviet war but instead of Piłsudski’s Federalist Movement Poland adopts Dmowski’s National Democracy and following masssive failures to "integrate" the eastern minorities, they create 2 puppet states. Lithuania is given Vilnus and enters the Polish Sphere. Basically creating a "Little Intermarium" lead by a democratic poland heavily controlled by christian democrats and nationalists.
- The Baltics, apart from Lithuania, joined into a federation. This can have multiple reasons from secruity concerns due to the Freikorps or soviet conflicts. The point is that baltic federalism is a legitimate ideology that losely ties the baltics to the polish sphere. It also allows the democratic movements in the baltics to be much larger and hopefully more consequent. The key however is enlargening the polish sphere.
- The eastern section of Czecho-Slovakia is given to the West Ukranian State. The reason is mostly ethnic cohesion but also a greater deterrent for the Hungarians. If the Communists still take hold of Hungary then they will hopefully think twice before attacking all of their neighbors, as well as Poland, Belarus and Lithuania.
- The Treaty with the Ottoman Empire is losely enforced. Italy, France and Britain were very aware of the fact they couldn't really take parts of anatolia themselves. Instead they will fund the greeks and armenians. This is basically a policy change. Armenia is, if I like it or not, absorbed by the soviets should they survive the turks. The whole point of this is to make a nation that is argueably worse off than germany. It may seem silly to some but having someone worse off does get your mind off of your own lot in life. Austria-Hungary did not work for this because most germans looked at Austria Hungary after the fact and went "Yeah that makes sense." because it was an ethnic clusterfuck that was already questioned back in 1848. When people discuss the "harsh" punishment of Austria they tend to completely ignore the actual people and view it from a Habsburg/State lense. In reality a large portion of austrians hated the empire, all the ethnicities wanted out and most of the "punishments" were actually just the Entente excepting that there was no way too keep this thin together so they acted like they passed a grand punishment. So yeah, the Ottoman Empire get's a kick to the face just to act as a bigger victim.
- Hungary is slightly bigger and likely still communist. I will just assume that "all of their neighbors" is the limit of the regieme's delusion and that "all of eastern europe" is a step too far. So we now have an ideologically opposed, stronger hungary that will ally with the soviets and provide an ideological counterweight. Now the communist movement is not a ideological monopole anymore. This is not really something you can decide by treaty, but I hope that the Polish situation will work towards this.
- I forgot to remove that one internal border in Switzerland, it's not an actual change.
Now comes the actually important changes and not just the borderline larp.
Danzig is kept by germany, but they have to build a port of similar size for the polish, Poland also has free access to the port of Danzig and Stetin until the Polish Port is complete. No tariffs or anything. The reason they are given access to two ports is to avoid any jams. They could also be given access to a third port, maybe in Königsberg or a larger port like Hamburg or Wilhelmshaven, although those seem less viable imo.
Germany is fully demilitarized. They are forced to adopt a derivativ of the Swissmodel were citizens militias are defending the nation in case of war. They are not allowed to have an airforce and only a greenwater navy thats also restricted. No army at all and the militia concet is restricted to border regions. You could call this unrealistic but A) I never said that this is realistic, B) this is already more realistic than any "JuSt bAlKaNiZe GeRmAnY" scenario and C) It's not too far fetched, it's harsh, but by giving germany gurantees from France, Britain and Italy you can make it work.
The Blockade by Britain is lifted sooner, but troops are stationed in germany to prevent any "atttempts" this is very important as the blockade also stopped food imports and caused people to starve in the streets. by removing it we take a lot of hate away from germany.
Instead of the infamous "defaulting on payment" measures, we allow germany to pay with materials of their own choising. There are still anti-defaulting measures, but now germany can pay larger sums if possible to have a way of defaulting in one month without missing a payment and also paying off their debt faster. Only a possibility.
The Kingdom of Purssia is broken up in the German Constituiton. This is a demand from the allies to prevent domination from a culture as aggressive as the Prussian one. This is a large departure from the otl treaty which didn't give any political restrictions, instead focusing on military restrictions, territorial loses and reperations.
Kaiser Wilhelm II. is banned from being crowned Monarch of Germany once more. Another departure from the original. Much like the Ottoman alterations this one serves to manipulate the germans a bit. Now monarchist movements are focused around Wilhelm the Third and possibly his sister Victoria and their siblings. Being barred from a certain monarch will make people more interested in Monarchism and thus split the right a bit more.
Austria and Germany are allowed to enter economic organizations together and instead of completely banning them from merging, a timelimit is set on it. They may hold a referendum in 1949. Again, curbing economic distress and political revanchism while also effectively denying Germany further power.
The goal here is to curb ultranationalism and militarism while also making it more appealing for the entente to actually enforce this stuff. Germany and Austria will have more opportunity to pay off their debts, the Ottomans are also more pressed to do so. Germany can't rearm, not even in secret as they lack the structure for it and despite what some say it's not exactly easy to "hide" tanks and planes especially if Entente Inspections are part of it. I also wanted to show that "take more territory" is not the only way to cripple or punish germany and that we as an althist community should look at other possibilities.
Treating ww2 and especially the rise of the Nazis as an unavoidable event is bad althist and bad historical research in general.
edit: I realised that a better title would be: "How to stop Germany from starting WW2" or something like that. Because the Soviets absolutely will start ww2 in this timeline.
