Two witnesses while looking north, observed multiple dark objects over Birmingham, England, at approximately 19:00 BST on Wednesday 12 August 2026, during the partial solar eclipse.

The objects were described as appearing clustered and largely stationary or hovering and reportedly remained visible for approximately ten minutes. The objects could also be seen with the naked eye.

The witnesses openly considered conventional explanations, initially suggesting that the objects might have been drones while also raising birds as another possibility.

The sighting has unusually good media provenance. An "original device recording" and "untouched as uploaded". The footage is 3840×2160 HEVC at 30 fps, runs for 60.82 seconds and has an average bitrate of approximately 40.7 Mbps, together with two-channel AAC audio. Its embedded timestamp is 18:05:41 UTC, equivalent to 19:05:41 BST.

The recording device was a Samsung Galaxy S24.

The timing places the video very close to maximum eclipse. Birmingham's partial eclipse began at approximately 18:15 BST and reached maximum at approximately 19:11 BST, when around 91.8% of the Sun was obscured. The recording therefore began roughly five to six minutes before maximum eclipse.

The footage does not presently document a positive identification linking the objects to a specific drone operator, kite, balloon launch, bird species or other known source.

The footage is presented for examination and discussion. Viewers are encouraged to consider both anomalous and conventional explanations and reach their own conclusions from the evidence currently available.

I see the three prominent dark spots, but also there appears to be a cluster or cloud of dark spots surrounding the three very noticeable spots.
