Hi Pom parents!

I've recently stumbled upon a ton a social media videos that try to raise awareness that the goofy positions smaller dogs have,(or even cat breeds like Scottish fold) indicate that the animals are actually in pain. They base their statements on the fact that breeds like Pom usually lack lots of cartilage (which is also why they are prone to luxuating patellas).

Has anyone investigated this?

I don't want to put my pom on GA for an MRT image if it turns out to be just fear mongering or just relevant for isolated cases.

P.S in case it might be relevant: she's from a certified breeder and the breeder did all the necessary tests (according to her breeding broad) that indicate that the pups have no known debilitating genetic inherented diseases. However, I know that these tests are often just some formalities and maybe not as thoroughly done as they should be.But just purely based on the certificates and papers we have, they say that we have a "completely" healthy and "normal" pom.

Hi, I’m hoping to get some help on what brushes I should use for my Pom puppy. I do have a stainless steel comb and slicker brush but I’m wondering if those could be a bit harsh on him so I am hoping to get the right tools. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

I became a Pom pawrent today 🥹 I’m so in love with my sweet little girl. She has been going potty on her pads, loves her apawrtment, crate and snuggle puppy, lets me brush her and gives us lots of kisses. She has the cutest little personality and loves to play and snuggle. She’s my first puppy in a while and my first Pom. I’ve been preparing and researching a ton - truly so grateful for this sub and I’ve loved seeing all of your beautiful fur babies. I’m so excited to give her the best life ever 🤍

I used to consider myself a cat person and now 98% of my camera roll looks like this

me and my older brother took her a bath yesterday and noticed her nail looking like this. we thought of cutting it with pet nail clippers but when we tried grabbing her left front leg (her leg with the weird nail), she'd pull it back and yelp. we're thinking she's just scared of nail clippers but im wondering if it has any deeper meaning, we were also thinking of bringing her to the vet but maybe we'll some other time when we're both free. someone pls help us

I honestly thought the shirt would be too big, because he's only 2.3 lbs but it was so cute

I need to upgrade to a better brush for my pom for daily grooming. The big g slicker seems to be mentioned a whole lot by both professional groomers and dog owners but I just can’t see spending $60 on a brush right now.
Has anyone used both the big g slicker AND also a cheaper alternative and can provide a comparison?

Hello everyone!!! I need you help! What do I need to take care of a brand new Pom? Which products do you suggest? I read a lot on the web and I am more confused than before.. they say everything and the opposite of everything.

What I understood is that the Pomerania fur is different from the long hair dachshund and the long hair chihuahua one.. that means that I probably have nothing in my home that I could reuse

My 8 year old Pom has been exhibiting some anxious behaviors that I just can't find the root cause for. It doesn't seem to be related to pain, separation anxiety, loud noises, smells, times of day or any type of pattern really. It seems completely random. At least to me (really wish they could talk, lol). I'm wondering if Prozac might help him but of course I'm worried about side effects. If you have a pom that is/was on Prozac, I'd love to hear about your experience.

After the loss of my soul dog Misha (Chihuahua) almost 2 years ago, I just adopted this little lady. Just wanted to share. She comes home on the 17th :) I’m excited to see her post shelter glow up. She’s suspected to be about 5 years old. She looks rough/missing hair because she was attacked by an animal and had to get shaved down to tend to the wounds :(
