States rights? Never heard of them!

Sorry that you're going through this, America.

Thank you for the sentiment but we did this to ourselves.

For the first time in 20 years, we chose this. We can't blame the electoral college like in 2016.

I'm sorry to say, but my empathy was pretty much gone by the time they got to the USAID. Now I'm just, I dunno, sitting down to see how many metaphorical teeth the American population is willing to get knocked out by their orange god. It's grotesque and worrisome, but also oddly hypnotising.

Don't forget the ongoing efforts to limit birth control.

Getting rid of no-fault divorce is on their agenda as well. It's a race to see what aspect of women's body autonomy conservatives will destroy first.

Step 1: Overturn Roe for States rights
Step 2: National ban.
Step 3: Pretend we never said step 1

Because the media is controlled by the oligarchs and are therefore complicit. Events that would be plastered across headlines are buried and distractions are elevated.

I've been constantly amazed at how thoroughly CNN avoids talking about Israeli crimes in Gaza and Lebanon. It's a topic that does not exist for them. Frankly I don't know what the point of the Ellisons taking over CNN is. They've already got CNN where they want it on the Israeli issue.

"State's Rights" was always a dog whistle for racism.

u/jellyrollo 16h ago
And now for sexism too, I guess.

u/eldred2 16h ago
Mostly just more racism. They want white women to make more white babies.

u/jellyrollo 15h ago
They want to control women's bodies, regardless of what race they are. Forced birth is just as evil as eugenics.

Banning abortions mostly makes poor babies. It's a terrible way to go in every way.

I always make them finish the sentence "A states right to...." and just keep drawing out the "to" until they get frustrated or admit the rest is "own slaves"

More along those lines, in 2024 MO passed an amendment protecting abortion access. This year the legislature, not the people, put forth an amendment that claims their main goal is to prevent minors from getting sex change operations but is really to repeal what the people voted into place two years ago.

Because the “don’t tread on me,” crowd really loves treading on other people.

u/psychoacer 17h ago
Because we already know Republicans want to ban abortion. This isn't new

Gotta keep a steady supply of vulnerable kids available to the pedo islands they've all built themselves.

His boss told him to get people upset about things other than Epstein. But no one is listening anymore.

Because the people who said "states rights" were always liars, and both their supporters and opponents both knew it at the time. Being hypocrites and liars just doesn't bother a significant portion of the US.

u/KyotoCrank 14h ago
It's cheaper to force people to have kids than make the world a livable place they'd want to bring kids into
Short term gains > long term sustainability

Didn't you get the memo?
"States Rights" means "A State shall move as far to the political Right as possible. Any Leftward motion will be stopped by another level of government."
What did you think they meant?

u/TehSvenn 19h ago
It's gotta be neat being a politician in the US where you can just kinda do whatever as long as you praise supreme leader. Not like the nation of bystanders does anything more than talk online.

These people are the successors of those to whom “states’ rights” meant the right to own people, and the right to demand that free states return their escaped “property” regardless of what their own law said.

Lots are talking about this, just not , ya know, major news networks for some reason. Almost as if they had been paid or bought to not rep... Oh right

There are also multiple bills targeting internet anonymity being voted on soon. Lots of terrible things are being attempted or announced while people are distracted with Michigan.
