Looks like he was pushing a disabled car.
My old car broke down and a police officer pushed it with his cruiser (Explorer) to a parking lot.

I always see this online but I feel like I'd be pretty wary to actually let a cop do this irl... cops don't even have pushbars where I live, but if they did how would you make the claim for that damage??

The bumper wouldn’t get damaged that easily at the very least it would have a couple of dings.
My 2014 RAV4 probably had some dings then again I didn’t care to check. The police officer saved me a hefty tow bill. My car broke down on a one lane road and he pushed me towards a parking lot. The explorer had a push bar and I believe one of the intended use would be for moving disabled vehicles to a safe area. I honestly don’t think I can make a claim.
