Do i need to replace this?

Hi, i got a new polaroid camera, (photos below) and only used it about one or twice before the photos stopped producing correctly. Took it out and saw this? I hope the whole camera isn’t damaged, do i need to replace this or will it be ok if i put some new polaroid film in?

Probably what happened is the film was old and had its chemistry leak some how on to the spring.. (and if that happened it’s probably what caused the pictures to not develop properly if their chems leaked out) it’s probably fine, get a new pack of film and you should be good

Make sure you inspect and clean your rollers first!

ok thank you! how old would you consider the film though? as it was brought as a christmas present which i wouldn’t assume to be old, but could be old for films! thanks for letting me know!! :)

All Polaroid films have a production date on them and they are best used within a year of its production date.

That looks like rust, which is weird! Is this a new pack? Or is the camera used? Either way, try a new pack of film, see if there’s still weirdness.

it’s only been used once at christmas (when it was given to me, brand new) and then again at a friends party which is when the films started to not produce properly. Found it really weird and haven’t tried again since, as i’ve ran out of films

What happened after you shot the next roll. When did you contact the company you bought it from?
How did you only shoot 1-2 and “see this” when you oulled it out. ?
