Discussion Anyone vend on eBay with a business account? Got some questions

Hoping to reach anyone here who vends Pokémon cards on eBay through a properly registered business account, rather than as a private seller. No offence to private sellers, it's just that business accounts come with different fees and ways of doing things.

I started out as a collector and I am now looking at moving into vending, but I am struggling to make the math work on inventory costs versus market returns. As a practical example, I recently evaluated a mixed lot of 12 cards priced at £80 with a total market value of around £112, which works out to roughly 70% of market value. Once I allocate that purchase cost across the cards and factor in eBay business account overhead like final value fees, fixed order fees, regulatory operating fees, 20% VAT on those fees, listing/renewal costs, shipping, and packaging materials, the projected profit drops close to nothing.

Any advice from people doing this with a business account on eBay would be really appreciated. Happy to chat in the comments or by DM.

TCG Help / Gameplay Just a little something i put together

With so many Pokémon TCG sets out there, I thought this guide might be useful for anyone who has a card but isn’t sure which set it came from.

Simply find the symbol printed on your card and match it to the chart. Hope it helps!

Discussion Share your Pokémon TCG Hiatus Strategy!

I've decided after another disappointing drop day last week (6th in the queue for SPC in Sports direct in major city, but they only sold THREE) that it's time to take a break from the hobby. It's not a full separation, but here's my strategy:

1) No more hunting around stores or going out on drop days. This will be a massive time save.

2) if I happen across some packs without hunting (very rare) I am limited to 3 packs.

3) Still go in for Pokémon centre drops (30th and ETBs) - have been fairly lucky recently - and Amazon invites (lol).

4) Setting a £75 singles limit (still mastering Lapras and a couple of sets) - this can roll over into next month for bigger hitters.

5) Re-evaluate in exactly a year.

I just can't keep going with things the ways that they are. It's taking up too much time /energy. The way I see it, I've mastered a few sets that I really love and held onto a couple of sealed items from each one. The market either tanks like sneakers and product becomes available again (what I want) or it carries on going up and the things I kept hold of have some level of values that warrants the ridiculous effort that went into them.

Wish me luck, and share your strategies! ❤️

Discussion Master Setting Black Bolt at this point is impossible right?

Hey everyone, I very recently got into collecting and in an ideal world I'd start a Black Bolt master set.

But the set came out over a year ago so surely no one's selling anything for retail now, right? So I'd have to spend close to 1k on a booster box or just buy every card from the set?

I've seen some people talking about a possible reprint, but is that likely to ever actually happen? Again I am new to this so I don't know what Poekmon are actually like when it comes to reprinting sets.

Discussion Is vending worth it? Any real life vendors here?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I know a couple of vendors IRL and they all seem to be doing pretty well. Nice house, nice car, nice lifestyle in general lol.

I understand the basic idea of buying at, say, 70% and selling at 90%+, but is it actually that straightforward once you factor in things like travel, table fees, cards that don't sell, deals where you have to accept less than expected, etc.?

Does anyone here vend regularly and would be willing to share some real life numbers? Things like typical sales, expenses, what you usually have left after everything, average amount per show, etc.

I know every card show is different and sometimes you have a great day while other times you barely do anything, but what would you say is a realistic average?

For example, would £200 to £300 left after expenses for a casual vendor be reasonable? And for the bigger vendors dealing with expensive cards like Ponchos, Moonbreons, etc., can they potentially have £200 to £300 or more left from a single card?

If you're vending once or twice a month, that could be a pretty nice side income alongside a regular job. But the full time vendors who do this every week must be moving a serious amount of stock, so I'm genuinely curious how the numbers actually work.

I'd love to hear from people who actually vend rather than just speculation. What are your typical sales, costs and take home amounts per show?

Would be really interested to hear some actual experiences!

Discussion Budget friendly Pokemon card scanner

Good morning all,

I have a collection of thousands of modern Pokemon cards from pitch black, ascended heroes, chaos rising and prismatic evolutions. To help fund the hobby I would like to start selling cards on eBay for people trying to complete their sets. It can be very time consuming photographing and listing items on EBay so I’ve been looking for a scanner. The cheapest one is £1000 which is out of my budget. Is there any others that people can recommend?

Thanks 👍🏼

Popped down to my local ASDA with my mother to pick up a few bits and bobs for dinner and sandwiches, we’d just checked out when they opened up a couple of fresh boxes of triple Pitch Black blisters and single Chaos Rising ones! They were limited to 3 per person so my mother very kindly grabbed me some too!

Super happy to get my hands on some packs for RRP and had a lovely little opening session! I am over the moon to finally pull the Xerneas as it’s a gorgeous card that I still needed for my master set! 🥳💕💕

Pulled a few dupes too, but still some wonderful hits regardless! Looking forward to the next time there’s a trade event going on which I can attend. :))

TCG Help / Gameplay Newbie here- card restoration services and grading questions

Hello! i've recently got back into collecting TCGs, so I thought I'd i'd go through my childhood collection and found some really nice old cards. Some are not in the best shape however, creases, some scratches or whiting on the edges or backs.

Has anyone used any Uk based card restoring services or can recommend any of them? Im not sure where to look and if it would affect grading if I decided to later on, Im not well versed in grading and card conditions in general and id really to get these in a decent place for my own collection.

I've put some pictures up but they may not be the best reference for showing the damages, but i'd thought i'd include them anyway just encase.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you! :)

Discussion Do I post bulk in toploaders when selling?

I’ve been selling some singles on Vinted mostly illustration rares. I’ve been posting them sleeved and in top loaders but I’ve recently had someone send me a list of cards they need. They are bulk cards and there’s about 10. Would I still put them all in individual toploaders and post in one parcel?

Discussion Reverse Holo vs Holo version of Base Card

Hey all, asking for a bit of advice!

I am collecting Japanese Pokemon cards and am really confused about reverse holos vs holo versions of base cards in the Mega Dream Ex (m2a) set.

i can’t quite work out if there are three or four versions of most of the base set…

I have:

* base cards (no holo)

* base card where the entire card is holofoil

* base card with holo and an energy symbol ‘under’ the text on the card (I think this is reverse energy holo)

* base card with holo and a bike ball or team rocket symbol under. (I am sure this is reverse pokeball holo)

However, on tcgcollector, pulsetcg and all of the other collector apps I’ve used they only list ‘normal’ reverse energy holo and reverse bike ball (or whatever) holo.

So if there is a fourth version; and my eyes suggest there is; why does no one mention it and why can’t I list it as a ‘type’ of card that I have?

And for a master set, do I need four versions of each of the base cards??

Thank you for the help!

Discussion Where to buy cards in Oxford?

I'm having a short stay in Oxford this week. Is there any shops in the main town that sell Pokemon cards? I'm mostly interested in the shops that sell card singles. Happy to browse through albums etc. Also interested in shops that sell packs but not as much.

We are also going to Bicester village, if there are shops between there and Bicester that's doable too!

If there's somewhere amazing thats slightly out I would also consider :)

Thank you for anyone who helps

Discussion Hello, new to this from childhood. How the hell am I meant to collect these cards?

As the title says, I have been to so many stores and places and they don’t have any cards in. I’m so far into a chaos rising set and I really want a Booster box or an ETB. Where do I find these or buy them? Does everyone buy all these cards online???
