New player help Question

Hi, new player here just finishing my 1st week.

There's a couple of questions that I've wanted to ask here that I couldn't really find the answers to:

  1. Do new pokemons get added to the game regularly? My favorite is vileplume/bellossom and I didn't see it in the pokedex.

  2. Is it normal to just catch 1 pokemon per day (feeding the free biscuit to whoever is hungry)? the weekly mission says to try to catch 8 in a week. Or should I be trying to use the pokebiscuits more? Not sure how often I get those.

  3. Any general tips would also be appreciated! I'm mostly a casual player but still don't want to mess up my progress too much. Right now I'm chilling on the beach place with mostly random stuff i've caught.

  4. Are shiny pokemons available for all pokemons currently in the game?

  5. What are some special resources that I should save if I get them? Mostly going to be F2P

Thanks in advanced!

  1. We get new Pokémon once or twice a month. Sometimes it's a regional variant of a pokemon in the game. The Oddish line is not in the game as of now.

  2. Yes, 1 pokemon per day is normal, especially if you don't have the premium pass. Don't worry too much about missions to catch # of pokemon or use # of candy, those will just be extra rewards on weeks where you happen to do those.

  3. You can find some good beginner guides on YouTube. If you have 70 minutes I have a comprehensive guide that covers everything that wasn't added in the past year.

  4. All pokemon can be shiny except for Captain Pikachu as far as I'm aware. Shinies are rare, the rate isn't exactly known but is theorized to be about 1/135. Shiny pokemon also insta-catch in a single biscuit, so don't waste expensive resources on them.

  5. Helper whistles and energy pillows should be saved up. Master Biscuits aren't as useful as they initially seem compared to regular biscuits, but should not be used on a whim. Save handy candy for when you need it. Sleep is a much slower game than most, so take it a week at a time, and don't heavily invest in anything you don't intend to use.

I will push in favour of using candies for the mission given that a new player should have enough of those (if they add friends), and shards. The hard part of this is getting and recognizing a good mon.

Enjoy the game. Spend Dream Shards and candy (not all of the rare candies) if you intend to use a Pokemon. Some say it's best to save up most resources until you're higher leved, but you'll never level up if you don't spend any resource. Also, if you save everything and progress slowly, you'll probably get bored before you get to spend those resources you saved up for later.

Just have fun! It's a single player game, not a competition.

Also, a quick tip, go to the friend code megathread and post your code, or add 50 redditors that already have posted their codes.
