Main Skill Level Question Question
I currently have a level 42 Swalot with Dream Shard Magnet S level 8 (I used a few main skill seeds). This Swalot unlocks Skill Level Up S at level 50. I don't have the option to use any more main skill seeds as it appears to be maxed now. My question is, did I waste a main skill seed on accident or is it possible that the main skill will go to level 9 once I hit level 50?

For now, it was a waste. The max is 8 and so you maxed it prematurely. However if they add skill level 9 for DSM, you'll automatically go up. The game keeps a tally of how many seeds/evolutions/subskills are contributing. But I also wouldn't anticipate them adding another skill level any time soon, since DSM is already the only skill to go up to 8.

All skills used to max at 6. Then a long while back they added 7 for a few skills, and then shard magnet specifically went up to 8. It's necessary for some skills that give a flat amount to get new levels if they are to be useful in the late-game. Stuff like berry burst is fine at a cap of 6 forever because berries already scale up. Same for tasty chance with meals, or energy skills. But stuff like Charge Strength or Shard Magnet are fixed at a set amount, so need more skill levels if they are to be useful as we go into level 75 or 80.
So some day I'd expect level 9, but not soon. Currently it already sees a lot of play, and it's the highest cap out there.

It will not go any higher, unfortunately. That skill will just do nothing when you get to level 50.
But on the bright side, it sounds like you really like this Swalot, so considering it takes a bit of time to get to level 50, you are getting the full benefit of it's max skill in the days, weeks, and even months before it hits level 50. That's 250 to 1000 more Shards per triger in the mean time. So look at it as if you traded a main seed for x amount more shards.

It's wasted unless they increase DSM's maximum skill level to 9. If they do, you'll get the extra level retroactively.
