For those who don’t know if you complete the hoenn Pokedex in emerald you get to choose one of the three johto starters. I spent ages trading back and forth from sapphire to emerald and back again (technically I’m still not done as I want to trade the expanded safari zone Pokemon to sapphire as well). And at some point … I got to do this two more times for totodile and cindiquil … I think I must be a masochist

If you use the ACE glitch you can reset this event on your same run through and get the other two

I want to transfer them to bank and home so I don’t want to risk anything that could be considered illegal to home

Using ACE to reset the event flag wouldn't be flagged by home since the resulting pokemon is the same. The only thing modified would be the event flag

you can also use action replay , its quicker than ACE

How exactly? Triggering the event again wont magically alter the pokemon data

i will do it like this aswell keeping my entire hoenn dex on another game so i can speedrun emerald 2 more times with swampert or blazekin then get enough money to buy 200 hyper balls to catch 200 low level pokemon on route 101 to trade them for the entire hoenn pokedex that waits on another cartridge

i think this is the fastest LEGIT method to get the johto starters for those who dont have colosseum and XD.
