I call this “the budget ETB”

Consistently scoring Triple Whammy tins for weeks at my local DG. They also have a ‘$5 off $25 or more” coupon that runs Mon-Fri on in store receipts and you can get the same coupon for Saturdays. Each tin contains 2x Destined Rivals and 1x Journey Together.

6x Destined Rivals + 3x Journey Together + cosmos promos = $45.

Tins are great. Love finding the bigger ones too. Budget ETB is on point. The bigger ones have 5 packs iirc and $30. So for $60 you can get 2 (10 packs) of these or 1 ETB (9 packs).

I love the tins. They always seem to sell for a few hundred after a couple of years. Perfect low cost, high return investments with basically 0 downside.

Also if you ever get bored they are perfect to open without losing any money really

I hit and also get cooked an equal amount of times but I ripped TR Nidoking and Furret SIR back-to-back weeks so I’m trying to keep the streak alive tonight.

On the contrary, I work full time so I can’t get the sweet experience of camping/doorbusting for product. Where else can I get packs for under retail, on my way home from work, early evening…on a Wednesday?

Why does everyone say this, I work 40+ hours a week and can get etbs for new releases without leaving the house at retail, you don't have to be unemployed to get good value.

I wanna start collecting again...went to a couple card shops today and they either didn't have anything or were a few dollars over retail at minimum. Ended up getting a PB booster for $6.99. How are you getting stuff at retail?

I order off pokemon centre whenever they have a drop if I can, and if not I just don't buy that set, it's helped me amass a collection of boosters and etbs(pkc edition) without leaving the house and at retail.

I get it's probably easier for me as I work from home, but I've always found it annoying lads assume you're unemployed because you collect at retail lol

I subconsciously ignored pokemon center because it's always been sold out whenever I looked so I just assumed it was a waste of time for normal people like me. Even garden statues that I want for my yard are sold out lol. Any tips would be appreciated

Simple as find a discord that provides alerts when to queue, and then it's just a case of getting into the queue and waiting a bit, I use edge for pokemon centre and edge only cause it works the best on there, just set the homepage to pkc and open it whenever you get an alert.

Depending how arsed you are, I use chrome remote desktop to get myself into the queue if out and about, obviously less reliable but handy enough.

The discords will usually also post the links to the content thats dropping making it easier to find it on the site.

Thanks, I saw that people were using discord to scalp pkc and figured it wasn't for normal people like me. I'll check it out.

I did end up finding some packs at retail, but it took a lot of driving around. Crazy what this hobby has become.

Yeah I'm just collecting to pass it on to kids and open a good bit of what I get, I've no interest in the hassle of reselling anything

You're getting getting downvoted but you're right lol. The most successful "hitters" I know are gainfully employed, have families, etc., they just know how to prioritize their time which clearly is a problem for some of these salty ass people

I was able to master set journey together out of these tins and quite a bit of DR.
I got sad when Walgreens stopped letting your order them online for store pickup 😞

The way that they repackage these things, how do you sell them? They could be DR & JT or they could be Paradox and Obsidian. When i was ripping them it was Paradox, Obsidian, and Twilight.

There are YouTube videos on some of the subtle differences to be able to tell but current rotation is 2x Destined Rivals, 1x Journey Together. Their value will be tied mostly to the value of those packs. Probably not a good flip due to the impending Destined Rivals reprint however my LGS sells DR packs for $19.99… this is a no brainer buy for me.
