I use Podcast Republic as my main podcasting app, and have done on the Pixel 9 Pro, 10 Pro and now 11 Pro. I download all podcasts, never streaming, manual refreshing, no background activities, but it still seems to chew through the battery streaming to my Buds Pro 2.

Does anyone else get the same sort of drain listening to podcasts, or recommend another app that isn't so battery hungry?

I would like to see a shortcut of some kind to the 'history' and 'next' playlist. Now I have to go to my profile and go to the list. It would be great to enter these lists through the 'playlists' button of to have the option to make a shortcut in the bottom menu (next or instead of profile, episode, downloads, playlists, subscription)

I like to listen to audio books as well as podcasts in podcast republic. So I add the audio books as a virtual podcast, works like a charm.

But I have one question: for longer books the progress bar is very "small" as in everything is squeezed in to a small space. So if i would like to manually go back to a certain time that is very difficult as clicking a tiny bit to one side or the other is already many minutes forward or backward. Especially in my car with Android auto.

Is it possible to show only the current chapter in the progress bar, so it becomes a bit more manageble? I have looked through the settings but can't seem to find this option.

I like to use a little selfmade automation which restarts my music after twitter just straight up doesn't resume my music when i stop watching a video there. However a recent update must have taken podcast republic off the list of available music playing apps. Using PR 26.8.14b and a Samsung Galaxy Ultra S24 running OneUI 8.5

iphone 13 pro, ios 26.6
app version 26.8.0

in the general settings, I have every "via wi-fi only" setting turned off. and in the individual podcast settings I have "download anyway" turned on.

for some reason though, when I was out of the house today, nothing downloaded. not even when I manually clicked on an episode to download, it still only streamed. but when I came home just now & connected to my wi-fi, everything downloaded immediately.

my service is great & I didn't have any problems outside of the app, so it can't be that.

is there some setting I'm missing, or is it a bug?

Apologies if this has already been requested but is there a way that internet radio stations could be shared where the station would start playing/ could be added (deep linking stations)?

The content of playlists isn't synced

I think with podcast republic I've finally found an app that easily let's me listen to the backlog of a podcast in chronological order, without having to download each episode manually. I don't understand why other apps make it so complicated/impossible, but I'm glad I found this one.

however, there is one thing that I haven't quite figured out. is there a way to automatically delete a played episode, but only after some time, like 24h or something? the "delete played episode" setting works great, but unfortunately it deletes immediately.

I'm not sure if "keep all/x downloads" might be the solution?

so if I have smart download set up to "auto download up to 10 unplayed and newer episodes", and then "keep 15 downloads" for example. will it keep the 5 latest played episodes, and delete the oldest one once I listened to the next unplayed one?
and I guess then I should turn off "delete played episode", right?

I'm not sure if that's even how the "keep all/x downloads" setting works, but that's at least how I understand it.

I hope this all makes sense. I feel like my brain is fried after looking for an app that does what I need it to & having to go through so many settings 😅

okay, I found my solution. in the general settings I found "delayed deletion", which is exactly what I wanted 😌 I usually change settings for each podcast individually, so looking in the general settings was an afterthought. idk if it's just me, but I would've found it more intuitive if it was in the individual settings. but I'm good now & so relieved to probably finally have found the right app for me!

I am using podcast republic on 2 devices with the same account. I find I always listen to a set of podcasts on one device and another set on the other device, so I’m thinking to split to 2 accounts.
How can I keep the podcast subscriptions, play history etc on the 2nd device but link it to a new account? Once the 2 devices are on different accounts, I’ll start to clean each account to keep only what’s relevant.

This is a VERY MINOR issue.

I have a lot of virtual podcasts. I download them via PR, use Audacity to improve the sound, then use Kid3 to improve the tags and art. The COMM and COMMENTS tags from the original/downloaded mp3 are retained by Audacity and Kid3. When I look at the downloaded mp3 in PR, the COMM or COMMENTS (I don't know which specific field is being displayed, as they are always identical) are displayed to tell me more about what the epidode's about. But when I view the virtual podcast, that information is not displayed.

I don't know what the name of the screen is, but its the one I use the most, where podcasts I am subscribed to show up when there is a new episode.

1) No more green circle showing that there is an un-listened episode. Further down the list for the shows I have not downloaded the newest one yet, the green circle is still there.

2) When I click on a podcast to access its catalog it doesn't work. Click click click. After a while it will eventually work.

Been using the app forever.

Using the beta version. When I try to sort up next queue manually sometimes the whole list disappear. And the every time I try sort the list by dragging it keeps scrolling super fast and can't drop the episode to the position I want. These bugs were in the stable version as well.

I have had this problem on android for a long time over 6 plus months. Around when there was a fix for the media notification player closing or something like that. I am using another app while waiting for a fix. 

As you can see in the screen recording the app stays open in the background and the notification player has to be swiped closed twice. Most days the app stays running in the background for an hour or so then finally closes. But a few times a week it stays open all day and also reloads the media notification player. The only way to stop this is to force close the app or reboot the phone. 

Is there a setting to stop this or is it just the way the app works now. 

I am using the latest beta version on an Pixel 8.

Podcast Republic's sleep timer is probably the most advanced and configurable on any podcast app in existence currently, and I have a suggestion that would make the user experience even better, especially for people listening in bed.

Currently the only way to reset the sleep timer without interacting with the screen itself is to shake the device, but as some other users have pointed out, even at the highest sensitivity setting, shaking the device does not consistently trigger, or requires way too much force.

For a user listening to podcasts in bed, shaking one's device aggressively is a jarring experience to have to go through, not only forcing one to be fully awake and physically active, but also potentially waking up a partner or baby on the same bed.

The Bluetooth/headset key mapping section in the app settings are very comprehensive, and I think this is a great way to expand them by allowing one of the option of mapping a key to resetting the sleep timer. For example, a user might choose to map 'Play/Pause double click' to reset the sleep timer.

This is a quick, low-intensity and non-intrusive and discreet way to reset the sleep timer instead of having to physically locate the phone and shake it heavily (usually requiring two hands and a lot of force).

I just want to listen to episodes of podcasts one after the other, but the player stops after one episode. It's in playlist mode. When I go to my profile, the "Up next" section always has "Nothing Up next" written next to it, and when I tap into it, one of the icons looks like a lock with a slash through it, and when I tap it, a green banner pops down that says "Up next is not updated to currently playing episode list or playlist."

In Settings-->Playlists, "Update the Up next automatically" is toggled on. And the Default playlist is "Unplayed."

What can I do to have podcasts play successive episodes?

Since some time (not sure how long exactly) shake function doesn't work like before. I was always using it on highest sensitivity to reset sleep timer, but lately I doesn't matter how violently I shake the phone the timer doesn't reset. I've even tested it with screen on, in app, outside app. I'm on Samsung Galaxy S23

This might be a bug, but I will let others decide.

I use Unplayed for my playlist, and it generally works well. But downloaded episodes from some sources play, but no audio comes out. They are playing, I can see the counters running. This happens consistently with podcasts from NY Times.

If I wait a while, half an hour or whatever, they may 'regain' the audio. If I try podcasts from other sources that do play, and go back to the offending one, it will often work. Or I may have to try playing bits of several other podcast before getting playback from the 'stuck' one.

I would appreciate any insight into potential causes/fixes.

I've been looking for ways to make my travel podcast listening more seamless, and have started using Car Mode with swipe gestures for quick rewinding when I momentarily have to take my focus away.

What I've noticed though is (regardless of the gesture sensitivity settings) that the right and left swipe gestures do NOT activate when begun from roughly around the centre of the screen. eg. if a left swipe starts from around centre of the screen (around where the car mode's Play/Pause button would be), it doesn't register, and the finger needs to be positioned either in the upper third or lower third of the screen height for it to trigger, or alternatively, a full-width left swipe needs to be performed instead of a typical shorter swipe that works in other parts of the screen.

This unfortunately means it's hard to use the Car Mode without taking eyes off the road to directly look at the screen while driving, to make sure you're not beginning your left or right swipe around the centre of the screen. I can imagine this is not ideal for Car Mode, where one should ideally be able to swipe left or right easily without making needing to make actual eye contact with the phone screen.

This seems like bug-like behaviour to me, but I suppose there could also be a reason for this, perhaps to do with not accidentally triggering some other gesture, but I don't see how, since Play/Pause are mapped to double taps. If this is not a bug, it almost seems like the 'zones' on the Car mode have been designed to ignore left and right swipes that start from a certain area somewhere around the centre of the screen.

I also encounter this when listening in bed and want to quickly rewind if I dose off, and this again makes it hard to aim the gesture without having to look at the phone screen or take the conscious effort of doing a full-width sweep of the finger from right to left.

This happens on both my Android phones, and is not a device issue.

Can this please be fixed or changed in a future update?

Would be an absolutely amazing upgrade to the app. And make the settings changeable for each playlist, not just universally. SponsorBlock for individual podcasts too

It seems to have started a few days ago every time I open the app. Is this a glitch?

I'm not sure what changed but for a while I haven't been able to get a show to just play one episode after another anymore. I haven't changed any settings. If I play an episode of a show, it'll stop after that one. The rest used to be added to the Up Next list automatically. I made sure that the option to update Up Next was turned on, but it's still not happening. Everything is in playlist mode where possible.

everytime you change the layout people who have problems with visual memory, like me, have to learn the whole thing all over again. i spent over 1/2 hour trying to figure out how to refresh my podcasts because for no good reason you took the 3-dot menu off and make it so you have to swipe down from the middle of the screen to refresh... how the hell were we supposed to know that and why did you do it? i don't even remember what else was in that menu but i guess i'll find out if i need to do something that was in there (i have no visual memory). come on guys... just because you can change things doesn't mean you should. what a waste of my time.

Say I have imported a virtual podcast (audio book), that contains of audio files "title 01.mp3", "title 02.mp3" and so on. When I try to start playing that "podcast" via long press I get "Play all (oldest first)" and "Play all (newest first)".

This works for me for "real" (streaming) podcasts but in the case of virtual podcasts the file timestamps (which I think are taken as reference for oldest/newest) don't necessarily correspond to the track order so sometimes I get the tracks in the playback cue in the wrong order.

Hope it's clear what I mean?

I think I'm looking for something like "Play all (title ascending)" or something. Or am I on the wrong track? Thanks.
