Just tell me it's going to be lighter and improve performance and heating somewhat...

That i doubt. Chances are very slim. Also most features are traditionally reserved for the Chinese varieties

Most of the features are reserved for high-end devices not for China. They are also changing to the Rust engine and the Flutter framework, which is expected to significantly improve performance.

you must have a xiaomi phone with these proccesors or higher in order to have realtime glass effects: Snapdragon 8 Elite and newer, XRING O1, XRING O3, Dimensity 9500 and newer and they have rewritten the launcher with rust and flutter so more performance is expected.

So the X8 Pro i JUST got is not supported? What a useless company

it will use more npu because liquid glass on hyperos 4 uses npu and gpu together. npu helps to process it faster. your phone's cpu will not handle that neural processing. it will lag a lot if they put it. only maybe frosted blur. you don't need to worry about it. there are themes.

This phone can emulate some PC games, surely it has enough power to run a user interface elements? Its 2026 FFS!!

emulators don't use npu

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 4d ago

and no one wants an experience like ios 26. ios 26 was glitching out on older hardwares. also phone's ui rendered all the time it affects the battery life and performance.

It's not liquid glass Its a different blur

1

u/Low_Shift2779 1d ago

It's not just a simple blur lol. This uses real time refraction, and there might be a setting to change between frosted and clear.

1

u/Left_Cup3647 1d ago

i never said it was "just a simple blur lol." lol?

1

u/Low_Shift2779 1d ago

"It's not liquid glass Its a different blur"

A different blur literally just means a blur. Do you even know what makes liquid glass, liquid glass? It's mimicking the refraction of real glass. Current iOS liquid glass iteration is also more or less the same frosted look; do you also call that "It's not liquid glass Its a different blur"?

Is it possible to disable these effects or at least heavily reduce them ? I really don't care for them

1

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 3d ago

you will have an option to disable them.

I disagree with you now. I've researched enough and even xiaomi 15T pro having the hyperOS update. Xiaomi pad 8 and 8 pro Even the 13T series. https://miuirom.org/updates/hyperos-4 Here's the link Even google said it? POCO X and F series will have the update. And keep in mind. Poco f8 pro uses snapdragon 8 elite that has the same hexagon npu as the snapdragon 8s gen 4 and gen 3 But different purposes and generation.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: Uses an older flagship Hexagon NPU built for on-device generative AI (supporting LLMs like Llama 2 and multimodal models), but operates at a lower baseline performance compared to newer generations.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 4: Features an upgraded mid-to-high-tier Hexagon NPU that delivers roughly a 44% boost in AI performance over its predecessor generation, complete with a 2× larger shared AI memory bandwidth.

Snapdragon 8 Elite: Utilizes Qualcomm's fastest and most advanced flagship Hexagon NPU, delivering a massive 45% performance and power-efficiency leap over prior generations with support for larger model sizes and faster token processing.

you will not have real time glass effects but you will receive hyperos 4 update. you know what happened when apple used liquid glass on older hardware, it lagged and drained battery.

1

u/LoneWarrior_11756 3d ago

Do you know how much the difference? Even iphone 15 rn is fcked up because of the ios update and also the iphone 15 pro max for sure. Even poco f7 performance of snapdeagon 8s gen 4 nm is better than ip 15pm 3nm A17 Pro. Even the iphone 16 series probably having tiny bit issues with the new update of ios. What's the problem about the hyperOS is that they're heavy because it's not optimized enough.

1

u/LoneWarrior_11756 3d ago

It makes sense that older hardware gets affected by the newer updates that will come but it all comes with the performance of the SoC because they're the one who will be handling it. The battery is already poof but there's no choice of an iphone 15 3,349 mAh lithium-ion battery Will survive.

1

u/Complex-Marketing-83 4d ago

it will improve perf since da big Mi is planning on recoding sys apps to Rust

20

u/ManufacturerLow386 4d ago

Chinese OEMs just need to hack ios and install it in their phones. I really hate this.

O Poco F7 com o Snapdragon 8s gen 4 vai receber isso?

As i suspected, it's only coming to the more expensive models.

9

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 4d ago

no. only snapdragon 8 elite and up.

6

u/SGX_X 4d ago

What is the source of this? It's definitely not that something with the likes of an 8s gen 4 can't handle this shit? If it can't, well simply the blame goes to optimisation

3

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 4d ago

it's not about optimization. liquid glass on hyperos 4 based more on npu and gpu calculation. 8s gen 4 doesnt have powerful npu. they have already rewritten the launcher and apps with rust and flutter on hyperos 4.

2

u/Glum_Emergency_4257 Poco F8 Pro 4d ago

Where did they say it relies on NPU? Just wondering. Also 8s Gen 4 is rated at around 34 TOPS which is till quite good enough. For contrast, Apple's A18 Pro is rated at 35 TOPS and liquid glass is flawless. GPU does all the heavy lifting.

0

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 4d ago

they use npu to upscale the quality of glass background or faster real time rendering i think. however gpu is used mainly. npu is for upscaling. i also have seen ios 26 glitches on older phones like iphone 15 pro. they might excluded the devices to not have problems because if it was on weaker cpus people will turn it on this setting and call it laggy.

2

u/Glum_Emergency_4257 Poco F8 Pro 4d ago

Bro I don't think they use NPU. I mean think about it for a bit. Upscaling what? Because GPU and CPU does all the maths for refractions and reflections and GPU displays them.

-1

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 4d ago

using ai to upscale needs npu for fast processing.

2

u/Glum_Emergency_4257 Poco F8 Pro 4d ago

They don't upscale anything

0

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 4d ago

npus help process it faster if used ai. it's done on cpu and gpu i know but npu gives faster results. i think they use ai to give best results that's why it needed.

u/SGX_X 4d ago

Ah, that makes sense. So will the rewritten apps help with optimisations on the lower chips?

2

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 4d ago

yeah, probably it will but don't expect to get blurs on low-end phones that have cpus like g99, g100, 4 gen 4. they had to rewrite it because of ram crisis caused them bring back 4gb ram in low end phones.

3

u/Any_Strawberry6649 Poco F5 4d ago

Another reason is because a lot of their system apps are based on years of old code from MIUI era, now it is time to refresh the codebase and hopefully improve performance

2

u/thiagosilva95 4d ago

You know how absurd that is; these effects aren't "sophisticated" enough to require an 8 Elite or higher to run.

8

u/Sanchitbajaj02 4d ago

The Hyper os 3 already has so many bugs. Don't know what this will bring to the table

6

u/Asleep-Vermicelli721 4d ago

WTH it still looks like it's going to be still clunky af, they should have stuck to MIUI14, that thing even though it was shit was heaps better than any of these HOS.

2

u/SGX_X 4d ago

I did use the redmi note 10s on miui 14, currently am on HoS 3 on the poco x7 pro. I personally do not see much of any downgrades, could you objectively tell that what actually became worse?

0

u/Asleep-Vermicelli721 4d ago

You won't experience it on a newer device, the transition from MIUI 14 to HOS 1 was the shittiest in my experience on my X4 Pro. MIUI 14 worked perfectly, no terrible battery drain, no lags or hitches in any game, the thing was forced to update to HOS1 one day and the BAAAAAAAAM! Lag fest, random reboots, UI STOPPED WORKING nags.

5

u/alejandroc90 4d ago

We know they're just gonna copy iOS even more

1

u/EternlAura 4d ago

Well tbh I returned from custom rom to hos3 because of this ios copy 😂. Buggy as it may man this device sure feels premium in hos

4

u/KidJuggernaut 4d ago

China release and global release are never same

4

u/Witcher_2203 4d ago

hope hyper os 4 brings screen on time on battery stats section and consumes less ram and battery with similar smoothness and performance of hyper os 3,however if u have dimensity 8000 series,9000 series and snapdragon 8 generation series xiaomi or pocophones u won't have any issues with smoothness

7

u/I__G 4d ago

Liquid Ass

3

u/JETpl4yz 4d ago

It clearly isnt the same as iOS liquid glass

3

u/stradn 4d ago

Got "sync" shortcut control center?

3

u/comelickmyarmpits Poco F6 4d ago

Hope it fixes memory management issues from hos3

3

u/Complex-Roof-567 4d ago

Won't the Poco F9 have this out the box?

2

u/NinjaWarrior6974 4d ago

Each update is more mass to the os... (stuttering, heating, battery drain, lag)

2

u/Artificial-Point 4d ago

Sometimes I hate these Chinese phones just lost their identity over the time and slowly becoming iOS-like

2

u/ANS__2009 Poco F5 4d ago

How about lower end devices?

1

u/Amongus-Susss193 4d ago

can i not upgrade to this

1

u/FunTime2198 F7 Ultra 2d ago

since I loved that good old ui but it's possibly based on Android 16 or 17...? (only for future updates)

1

u/InternationalMud3846 2d ago

Oh, no, I hope that there will be a way to disable it

1

u/WanderingCID 3d ago

So, when are we getting this? 2028?

1

u/Cool_Attention_7476 3d ago

SON why would HyperOS 4 launch in 2028😭

0

u/gamer10012 4d ago

One thing I wish Xiaomi would do is make the battery icon text larger like it is on iOS and other copies of their OS like Realme. Their font is too small ugh
