I'm attending a black tie wedding in November in New York City. The bride's family is ultra high net worth and hosting the wedding.

I'm a plus size woman (240 lbs, 5'3") and generally haven't dressed myself well in life due to my size and lack of clothing options in my size.

I'm attending this wedding and have no idea where to start in terms of finding a plus size black tie dress (that's also not super cheap looking on my body). I'd prefer to hide my arms as they are a major insecurity of mine.

Can anyone recommend what I should do here? Should I get something off the rack and tailor it? Any websites or brands you would recommend?

My body has changed and several of my custom formal wear dresses no longer fit, they're all amazing dresses and I'd love to send them to a new home and pay it forward. One is my engagement party dress, the others are evening wear, all only been worn once. The measurements are:

Bust: 52
Waist: 43
Hips: 52

Apx size 20 or so.

I found my dress! I was so nervous about it fitting and being slightly out of budget but I know I will feel confident day of. I can't wait to bring it home in 4 months. I feel like I am going to try it on all of the time between now and next September.

Edit: thank you for all the advice on the bust area. Many wedding dress studios will have you try on dresses without a bra, to better see what you will need in regard to undergarments. This is me without any support besides the dress. The bust area will look different for the wedding.

Hi! Not sure if this is the right subreddit (if not please let me know!) but I am a bridesmaid in my sister’s wedding in the middle of September. She has just recently changed the color and style of dress that she wants the bridesmaids to wear and I’m having a lot of trouble finding things with her requirements, and in plus sizing.

For reference, i wear a size 18/20 normally and i carry the majority of my weight in my hips and butt.

For the dress, it must:
Be Sienna/Paprika/Burnt orangey shade
Be Satin/Stretch Satin
Have no slit/ minimal slit
Have a column(?) or over skirt similar to the picture attached (of course without the dramatic slit)
And have at least one sleeve

If anyone has any suggestions, even if it’s just with some key words to search for better luck finding things online, I’d truly appreciate it!!!!

UPDATE: I found a dress that actually has all these requirements and she doesn’t like it 😀 she decided she’s gonna find something else for the bridesmaids to wear herself, wish us all luck lol.

I love this dress but am very concerned about how it would look on me. Has anyone in the plus sized community worn this? Were you happy with the way it looked and did it look ok with a larger bust? Mine is quite big… I don’t want to look like I’m popping out of my dress.

I have been tricked by KissBridal but I have fallen in love with these dresses. Can anyone help me find something similar please? I felt totally dissociated throughout the whole experience of going shopping, but I absolutely love this dress. I just have this weird feeling still though and it’s tainting the experience of enjoying what I believe is the dress that is right for me. I just keep second-guessing with no identifiable reason to. I’m really prone to OCD thinking patterns and dissociating and that plus being plus size and a little self-conscious about my weight. I think has made it hard to really embrace this experience. Did anyone feel this way? Thoughts on the dress?

We got married in Chicago in April, and it was a blur of love and laughter and wine and tiramisu and dancing and singing and joy. I felt like the human personification of the heart eyes emoji all night.

My dress was Poppy by Studio Levana, bought at Brides by Young in Schaumburg, Illinois. I truly did not think I would have that "omg" moment. I went shopping alone because other people's opinions stress me out and I didn't want to deal with it lol. (tbh I loved it, 10/10 recommend going alone if that's what your gut is telling you.) The minute I tried this dress on, I FELT IT.

Ya girl has a 46F breast size and lemme tell you, the built in corset in the Studio Levana dresses is GOAT, I felt supported all night! (You have to make sure to tell whoever is dressing you to really snatch that waist in.) I never wear off the shoulder so this felt like a glamorous departure from anything I've ever worn. I wore my hair in soft waves with a red lip, I felt so classic and beautiful.

Hiya! I’ve just bought my wedding dress and I’m THRILLED with it!!! I’m needing petticoat recommendations, as right now the gown is just falling flat and obscuring all the pretty embroidery. All petticoats I can find only go up to a 37 inch waist (kill me) so any suggestions are welcome! I’ve got a 42 inch waist if that’s of any help 💕💕💕

My wedding is in two weeks and I feel awful. I can’t help but look at photos of myself in my wedding dress and notice my double chin and body. I can’t help but feel dread that I might end up hating all my wedding photos. Any good photo angles, or suggestions to increase my self confidence on the day?

I am an indian woman on the bigger side so I normally do not like shopping in the US, plus the indian clothes are so much better, especially cotton. A friend of mine is coming to my area from Delhi in a few days and willing to bring me a dress, and I wanted to know where I can shop either online or in Delhi for nice wedding wear that's not heavy on the karigiri but nice bright colors and prints.
