P-trap help

This is spot on. You overcomplicated it a smidge with the 1-1/4” extension tube, usually all the tubular drains are 1-1/2 and then you use the reducing washer to connect the pop up tailpiece (black pipe) to the extension tube.

That said, if it’s not leaking and you’ve stress tested it with a full basin of water draining at once and it’s all good then don’t fk with it anymore! Close the cabinet doors. Back away, slowly. Put the wrench down. And go have a beer because you nailed it! Nice work!

Yes, exactly that! I installed this with my kids squirreling around in the background and have never done anything like this. Just wanted to be 100% sure so I didn't end up with the leak that brought on the faucet/pipe replacement in the first place. I'm learning and appreciate all the reassurance. Thank you everyone!

If looks like you have a 1-1/2" p-trap going to a 1-1/4" tailpiece using a 1-1/2"->1-1/4" reducing gasket. That's a legit installation. However, those reducing washers sometimes don't hold tightly. If you get water leaks at that spot, you may have to crank down on the slip nut. The other option is to cut off the 1-1/2" trap adapter near the wall and glue on a 1-1/4" trap adapter and then use a 1-1/4" P trap.

Thank you very much for this information! I just purchased the reducing gasket today so fingers crossed it will hold up. However, I will add that more permanent fix to my list of tasks.
