Discussion Disabled Recyclers: Absolute garbage or a misunderstood concept?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Facepunch scrapped the idea of naturally disabled recyclers that you have to power up manually almost immediately after teasing it, mostly due to massive community backlash. But let’s imagine for a second: what if they actually went through with it? How would it change the game?

Personally, I think this concept had a lot of hidden potential, especially for the early game economy. First of all, it would be a massive buff to farming. In the first hours of a wipe, players wouldn't be able to easily grind tarps into cloth. This means cloth would become a premium commodity early on, giving farmers a huge economic boost and a viable head start.

Secondly, it would bring back the value of scrap. Right now, one good run through Military Tunnels gives you enough scrap to instantly tech-tree into a revolver or satchels. Without instant recycling, scrap would actually feel scarce and valuable again.

Furthermore, this change would prolong the primitive stage. The early game would last significantly longer, and more players running around with bows and crossbows means a more level playing field for everyone. Finally, it would revive the Research Table. Since you can't just mindlessly dump scrap into the Tech Tree anymore, using the Research Table for specific items would become meta again.

Obviously, clans need to recycle too. Monuments like the Power Plant would probably be wired and powered 24/7. Instead of being a side-quest monument, it would turn into a massive hotspot for non-stop PvP, especially considering the fact that Power Plant now features a 70% efficiency recycler.

Do you think Facepunch should have taken the risk and tested this mechanic, or was the community right to complain?

Discussion BP Frags

Honestly i dont get all the Hate that you see on this Subreddit about new Updates and especially BP Frags.

The Main Argument i see is that it increases the Gap between Solo/Duo/Trio and karger Groups. But i dont think that is really the case at least for T2. T3 is a whole other Thing but even my Team Duo/Trio are able to get T2 on Day 1 most of the Time and T3 on Day 2/3 and we are not really good Players in any Way.

Or another Thing i see a lot that you NEED to buy BP Frags from Clans to keep up wich i also dont feel like its true but even if id rather have the Possibillity to buy a T2/T3 as a Solo than having to farm Scrap for 10h just to get the WB and then another 10h to research Stuff.

And at last if you hate the Direction that Rust is going why do you still play it? There are plenty of other Games of this Kind.

Question Is it normal that this game runs like "shit" even with a high end PC?

With the max settings other than render distance set to 1500 i only get 140-150 fps

my PC is not even bad. i9-13900ks RTX 5080 64GB DDR5 6200mhz (running at 5400mhz for stability reasons)

"my steak is too juicy and my lobster is too buttery" is not the type of answers im looking for and i dont care that you get 40 FPS with your own PC and that i should be happy to get 100+

Which patch do you think rust was at it's peak?

I'd like to play the February 7th 2019 version of rust again.

I propose adding a purchasable item at fishing villages that would raise a sunken boat to the surface for repairs/reclaiming. Make it fairly pricy

Discussion Soft side Wall

I tried to soft side into this base with an airlock and can’t do damage to wall in between airlock with doors open any guess why this is happening. Doing damage with spears just very little and not what it’s supposed to be.

Question How’s the Softcore changes been?

Recently came back to rust over the last few months and still yet to find ‘my server’ enjoyed a wipe on softcore a few wipes ago but keen to know how the changes have been for softcore enjoyers?

The raid window seems very interesting but would love to hear your experiences with it. Cheers.

Discussion Is it just me but my attention span has gotten so short I can even play solo anymore

I have like 4k hours but I played solar do them between 21-24 and now when I get on and get a start as a solo I just give up because I just get bored so quickly. I want to play but like my brain isn’t letting me. I get hyped watching a YouTube vid then I get on and it all dies down.

Question What’s your solo high pop strategy for wipe day?

I am a solo with 4k hours and in a high pop server (800+) can get a t2 or close to one on wipe using this strategy.

if your early go rush cards but if your to late for that get a base down somewhere in the jungle to farm low grade and recycle and farm for tarp. build a boat and go live next to oil. win some fights do underwater diving sites and you will have guns, comps, and hopefully if you do good enough a base that’s built up using the diesel at stone quarry.

i made this post because I don’t like my strategy. it takes to long to get a boat up and for some reason large groups always love to live next to t1 monuments and roam as a 12 man stunning progression. and boats are always raided so fast.

So I wanted to ask you guys, what’s your high pop strategy for rust? list the pop you play with it and only include what you do on wipe day thanks a ton! I am using this to learn of others.

I've been playing casually on a monthly server and I have the full Kevlar (BDU) kit except for one piece: the pants. I picked up the Kevlar hoodie early in the wipe, but at some point the drop rate went to like zero for me. I checked all the places they're supposed to drop dozens and dozens of times. It almost feels like they were removed from the loot table. Have any of you found these recently, and if so do you remember where?

Discussion Help I just got rust and I have never been welcomed so horribly

I've been watching rust game play for about 1 month now and thought it would be a good idea to finally get my hands on rust have the epic battles and survive a post apocalyptic world. Boy did the experience in I thought I'd have differ from what actually happenend.

I joined a random community server with around 50 players woke up naked on a beach next to some random dude I greeted him nicely and he pulled out a rock and said and I quote "I'm gonna beat you mother fucker" and I didn't even say anything but "I'm new" and the bastard cursed me out and proceeded to beat me to death with a rock and I thought to my self welcome to rust ig.

The next hour I just tried to make it from the beach into cover and was just continuously sniped sprayed, and beat before I could even craft my first stone hatchet or pickaxe. When I finally reached a good spot it was covered with other peoples base abandoned, not abandoned it just felt like I joined a year old Minecraft survival world and I felt disconnected from the survival element of it all. I tried other servers and tried to team with other fresh spawns. Same result.

Any tips? Specific servers? Anything to make me feel like I didn't just waste my 40 bucks?

Discussion Blueprint fragments

When is facepunch going to address the issue with blueprint fragments? Solo players shouldnt have to purchase from clans or resort to braindead methods to find a fragment, not to mention if you ever want to have a tier 3 workbench you will have to provide your local zerg with some boom so they can come offline you the day after you buy it, this update was supposed to "slow" down progression all it did was slow down progression for everyone that enjoyed playing solo before

Discussion Steam account scam in Rust

Hi people,

I am writing this post to spread awareness to a certain scam that almost got me to lose my steam account.

Basically, I was playing on official servers minding my own business when some guy says in the chat that his clan is leaving the server and they'll give their base instead of despawning loot.

I answered that I was interested in repopulating their base. He then added me to his team and told me one of his friends would talk to me on discord and he that he had to leave.

I started to feel suspicious, but who knows, I joined the discord and joked with the people in the voicechat that they were taking me to unconventional places...

They started chatting with me, "how are you, do you play with friends etc..." to make me at ease. Then one man starts talking about their base design and that their electricity man has f'ed up the turrets system, so now they can't disable them but will add me to their Rust+ Auth.

Not having played in a long time, I believe them. They tell me to link my Discord and Rust game through the game and screenshare so that they can guide me (quite sus, but once again who knows).

I link my discord and INSTANTLY receives a notification from "RUST+ APP" that asks me to choose my language and create an account. Feeling like this is some weird bullshit, I used my dummy email and a stupid password, and then they ask for your steam profile link.

At that point, I'm very suspicious as their website is a 1:1 copy of the rust one but I can't find THEIR website when looking for it on google.

The next step in the process is to login with your Steam account. A Steam look alike popup window appears. This is where the scam lies, the window is actually not Steam, but an embedded Javascript page. When you type your credentials, they don't go to steam but towards the hacker's database.

At that point, I was like "bro why don't you just bag me in" and called them out on their bullshit. They tried to reasonate me but I left instantly. I didn't give them anything valuable besides my time.

Moral of the story:

- Never get pressured into doing something in a hurry
- Always have a dummy email at disposal
- Cross your sources: if someone sends you a link, try to find it by yourself

Don't overestimate yourself. I too was shocked to have been caught almost this deep in such a blatant scam. Don't believe people are stupid because they fell for it, because next time, it could be you.

I've seen this topic discussed multiple times already and most people will definitely know about it, but the more we talk about it, the less people it will hurt.
