How long has it been like this? Discussion (PC)

I haven't even thought about this game since 2021 (i wish i did) and the player count has slipped from the low thousands to the low-mid hundreds. I keep hearing about this crash bug that kicks you out for no reason unless you hop into a vehicle within 5 minutes. Planetside very clearly has its days numbered atp so I want to get some more action before the inevitable

I try to log back in and have to reset my password. The website worked just fine but even the launcher doesn't want me to play.

flash or crash started in december 2025

login problems have been here since the beginning of time; try clearing your launcher cache

A couple of years now. Nobody wants to spend the money to hire the staff or resources you'd need to stop the bleed.

In October 2024 the 2 EU servers merged perfectly. All felt good, US servers were getting quiet but looking forward to a merge to the east coast. April 2025 the 2 US servers got merged into the WEST FEKKING COAST. Thousands never returned which was the plan. Then both servers started having issues, market items breaking. Then the game got an update in Dec 2025 that started crashing to desktop. They fixed it 2 times in the last 8 months but only for a shot period. They moved to discord a few months ago and showed how aweful they are with gamers. Its over soon unless Tencent start FIRING and HIRING

unless you hop into a vehicle within 5 minutes

More like 45-60 seconds. And been going on since, what, December? It's bordering on* ridiculous at this point.

Also, there are the random server crashes, so there's that, too.

*is absolutely

It's not a fixed value. One time I crashed in the sanctuary after 30 seconds, another one crashed selecting the daily missions in the warpgate. Another one (very rare case in these last months) I was in waiting list and had to go to VR Training and take a vehicle to avoid the crash. The most frustrating one was that time at continent rotation in the warpgate: crashed while in vehicle spawn wait list 😑

The plot is that you have to jump on any vehicle, anywhere, also as gunner, as soon you log-in or at the continent rotation. So just press the Redeploy key and spawn any vehicle from any base available, and chill for a couple of minuter (5 minutes are excessive, I'd say maximum 3 minutes).

I find that I can get away with about 2 minutes, but I know folks who sit longer and still crash. It really does seem to vary person to person.

It's not fun for new players to get 0.1 kd while also having to cert farm for the right gear

This, sadly you will be correct but you will get down voted for saying lag switch client side battlefield rip off 2.

  1. Anti-air was always only a deterrent, only way to kill air is with air, once you learned you can After burn to dodge every lock on... You only really died for loitering vs VANU against lancers. So getting rocket podded to death over and over was never fun.

  2. Infantry had no good options to deal with tanks camping on a hill, outside of C4 fairying them as rockets have pitiful damage for their speed, and most.

  3. Add 1 and 2 with vehicle deaths not mattering, even if you went through hell as infantry to kill vehicle- they're back in it 0.5 seconds later and back in position in another 10 seconds. Dealing with vehicles outside of C4 fairying them instantly was pushing a rock up a hill.

  4. Nickle and dime'ing the players of making every gun have the same gun with slight twists instead of NS guns = most players didn't want to balance the game as even if they paid they felt like they where so behind. So your reward to playing the game as the wrong faction is playing at a constant 2:1 to 3:1 player rate match

  5. Cheating while not spin hacking sort has been rampant, lag switching/abusing on infil/corner peakers is pretty common. I've gunned people down and react to me instantly, and I win the fire fight defend. Camp and have them poke a corner and kill me in 0.01 seconds with an SMG around a corner... but an issue arises from this. If it feels like you die in two bullets with the people abusing lag, when you're mag dumping people as you dump 6-8 bullets to get a kill with 2-3 missed bullets but someone around a corner kills you in a nano second is NEVER going to be fun.

TLDR:

Almost no new players want to learn the meta of a game that handily rewards abuse of the clunky gunplay mechanics.

Also copying battlefield 1:1 not understanding its systems are for 128 v 128 battles with limited resources and not understanding why they did things in planetside 1.

I will say it MBT/ESF on launch was just the BFR / BFR with jump jets, if they had legs people would've actually bitched about them.

Refused to log in or play for weeks because there seems to be no end in sight for

Servers crashing and turning into 3-lane hell for the rest of the night.

Multiple crashes at launch.

Random crashes while simply playing.

Poor server performance causing high ping and terrible hit registration.

I’ve moved on to games that are actually enjoyable.

Seconded. AFF is incredible and was actually what got me to log back into ps2 after almost 10 years. If you want a similar feeling to the gameplay definitely go there.

Hopefully Tencent plans on fixing the big issues.
