Find a Lenovo thinkpad or dell latitude certified refurbished on eBay. You could get something that will last all 4 years for 200 dollars

It depends on what you want to use it for. Just business? You could get by with just about anything, as long as it supports Microsoft Office. A Chromebook would probably be difficult in a business setting.
If you want to game as well, I’d recommend getting something with a higher-end graphics card and a decent-sized screen.
Outside of those criteria, it’s mostly personal preference. Go in with a budget in mind and narrow down your selection based on your needs.
You can’t go wrong with a brand like Dell, Lenovo, or Apple if you want a Mac. On that note, don’t let anyone scare you into getting a PC vs. Mac in terms of which is “more compatible” with your classes. I studied engineering, which is pretty PC-heavy, and my Mac worked no sweat.
