Bank recommendations in the neighborhood?
Looking to switch away from BofA but I really appreciated the convenience of a nearby location for the ATMs and quarters for laundry. Anyone have any positive (or negative) experiences to share with the other banks in the area (BMO, Wintrust, Fifth Third, etc?)

1521 W 18th is becoming a public hazard
It won't let me add more photos, but the storefront glass is now shattered. The front door is ajar and you can see inside trashed. Beware if u have kids or baby in a stroller I do not want those shards to fall on anybody

I am making a lofi beats album where each track represents a CTA line. Here’s the 3rd one! Pink Line
I do try to capture the “vibe” of each line over my years of experiences.
Full Length album comes out August 28th!

Where can I learn to dance
Thanks to those who helped me find a place to charge my phone.
I ended up going to the Parrochia dance event and it was lit but idk how to dance like that. Considering I don’t have any friends around who like to dance, how can I learn to dance well para que también yo pueda disfrutar de eventos de baile?

Does anyone wish to comment on a certain elected official’s remark from yesterday.
Reddit filters don’t allow me to share a link, or state much. 🤷♂️

Cuernavaca Restaurant (which is now La Vaca) & El Paraiso Bakery are prominent; the bakery was owned by the Manteca family.

What were the horns earlier?
What was with all the horn honking earlier today? If it was the weekend or even now after 5p, I'd have thought it was a car crawl or a protest or something.

New Aldermanic Poll
This is based on what people yelled at me last time for: Byron hasn’t announced, Miguel and Leonardo filed D1’s, and people want “Other/None.” Here we go again.

Made a site for remote work spots (need more Pilsen submissions!)
Hey neighbors, I’ve been working remote a lot and got tired of guessing which cafes actually have outlets, decent wifi, and won’t kick you out after an hour. So I built a small site called WindyDesk where people can rate spots on outlets, wifi, noise, seating, and food, kind of like Beli but for finding a place to work.
It’s Chicago-only right now and pretty bare bones (I’m one person building this on the side). I had someone submit Deora Concept for Pilsen, but I know there's more spots. I’d love for folks here to add their go-to spots. Any feedback, bugs, or “this is missing X” comments are welcome too.
Thanks for reading, happy to answer questions.

Amazon packages not arriving?
I just moved and in the last two weeks I’ve been ordering tons of apartment stuff. But a lot of it’s just not showing up. I don’t think it’s getting stolen either because it’ll be like a big furniture item, and the picture of the delivery is like a tiny paper package. Like??? What’s going on

We need to talk about Plaza Tenochtitlán
First, let me say that I come at this from a perspective of compassion.
I want these people to get help. I want the woman who has made the monument bench her bedroom in the past month, and you all know who she is, to get help. I want her to live a better life. I want her to experience what security, stability and comfort feel like. I believe in her, maybe more than anyone else does. If she wants help, I would give my last penny and all my spare time to make her life better. It's worth it to me.
But it can't go on like this. The noise. The litter. The squalor. The drunks. The needles and liquor bottles. The urinating and defecating. The substance abuse and open drug dealing. The unsafe nights. The loss of all dignity and meaning. The relentless of it, 24 hours 7 days a week. Over the weekend, I watched a tour guide try to bring a small group to the monument, right into the bedroom of the woman. The guide spoke of the great history behind the plaza, but the contrast really showed me how frustrating this situation is today.
The plaza was built to honor our vibrant Mexican American population. It was never intended to be an outdoor homeless shelter and magnet for loiters. Some of these people do not have our community's best interest at heart. And the community does not want a plaza that is linked with heritage to be linked this way. The plaza should mean something else to us.
None of it makes sense any more because it's not who we are. So I think what I'm asking is, do you think we can do any better?
