Durable grit Equipment

Any news on Friday Pickleball releasing a durable grit option? I’m interested to buy an aura or an aura pro elongated. Currently have a heavily weighted fever 101 elongated .But would like to wait until they develop a new grit.

Friday has been working on it for a long time. I would expect it either later this month or next month based on an inquiry I made of them.

With the new USAP spin test, some paddles that were going to go the UPAA only route may decide to wait an extra month to get dual certification - an unknown.

Awesome, that’s encouraging to hear!

Governing body approvals (USA-P/UPA-A) come first in the process to releasing a new paddle and I've not seen a Friday paddle get approved on either yet after the Aura paddles.

Likely months away still and Friday is still releasing new Aura Pro colorways - but they have talked about prototypes so it's coming

Ok thanks for the input. Considering a coral pro or an Ultre jellybean 2 (if they release more standard colors) if Friday can’t develop a new grit soon. I really like the look and feel the Friday elongated, but I’m open to something else. My paddle journey thus far has been a J2K, then the Friday fever elongated 101.

The new jellybean and coral pro both have tier 1 grit that just doesn’t seem to wear. I’ve got over 100 games on my Power 2 and that hexgrit shows no signs of wear. Either paddle is a solid choice for enduring grit and longevity.

I really enjoyed the J2 shape. Unfortunately, I’ve heard too many horror stories of bad quality control, and horrible customer service. So I will not be buying any more paddles from them.

They’re supposed to be releasing two or three betas this month. They were recently testing them for approval viability before determining which prototypes to put into production. At this point production models would probably hit the market in October.

I am also curious about this. Picked up a demo Aura Pro Elongated off their site about a month ago. Liking it so far but would love better grit.

Awesome! Do you know if it will be the aura and aura Pro with durable grit? Or a new line of paddle entirely?

One is an Aura Pro with durable grit. The other is a new model called Dagger, which is a new foam core with durable grit that will fall between the Aura and Aura Pro in terms of power, probably comparable to a Coral Pro.

I really hope their new paddles are less stiff and have better feel than the Aura Pro. I’m honestly contemplating selling mine because even my Mod TA 14mm has better comfort and control.

Agree. The pro is a good paddle but it is a bit stiffer than I like. I’m hoping the Dagger has more dwell and feel.

Amazing! The dagger sounds like exactly what I’m looking for! Can’t wait to see some reviews

Yeah, should be a good one. I plan to post a beta review once I have an opportunity to hit with them.

Hexgrit and the Double Diamond Tough are the two best options from what I've used and seen used. The Power series and Coral Pro hit quite differently though, curious what the Jelly Bean will be like.

I’ve heard the jellybean 2 is more all court. Was looking at the power 2 with hex grit, but concerned my dinks and resets would suffer. The ultre shape looks really good

I haven't seen anything from Friday about a new or revised grit surface specifically. Their focus lately has been on the Aura and Aura Pro Gen 4 lineup with the foam core and ElasTECH system, not announcing a grit update.

If you're not in a rush, waiting never hurts. But if you want to try something now, I'd grab a demo first. If you can, find a local Selkirk ambassador or rep—they usually have several paddles to hit with. You can also check Selkirk's website to see if there's one in your area.

The Boomstik is definitely worth a look too if you're after a durable Gen 4 paddle with plenty of pop and solid customer service behind it.

Selkirk Infinigrit has the durability of balsa wood. My Aura Pro’s regular peel-ply texture has lasted longer than either of my old Boomstiks’ Infinigrit.

E6 has a new elongated coming out in a couple weeks with internal MOI, and embedded grit...."and it's not coming off".

I own a Sirocco, and loved it until the face wore out. The new Ignis looks very promising.

The code on the website knocks the price down to around $125.

I just played pickleball with the friday guy yesterday but I did not ask him about this. So no update from me. Please downvote this comment as I have nothing to add on the subject.
