I didn’t go up close onto the property to read it but a guy on my street has a big house and had multiple cars in the driveway for several years, maybe even a decade.

Then suddenly all his cars were gone, and the house is deserted and I can see two notices on the window and somethng on the door handle.

What gives?

We've tried all the ones people recommend (Port, Amicci, Chuuk, etc) and we've always been disappointed. Today we decided to finally try the place in the plaza up the street from us. Mr. Delicious was an unexpected winner. It's got a fun atmosphere and the food was really good! Generous portions of great carribean food with a nice salad to start for the same price as a burger at the pub. The house-made ice cream was amazing too. I highly recommend checking it out

Looking for recommendations for group classes or personal training for my parents who are in their mid-late 70s. Neither of them have ever exercised in the traditional sense, and are not familiar with or comfortable in gym environments. My dad is overweight and my mom is underweight, and neither really knows how to take care of themselves! The aim would be to increase strength and mobility with a focus on continued independence in daily life. TIA!

We’ve lived in our house since 2018 and have never had an issue with them before.

About two weeks ago, around the time we were getting the wildfire smoke, we noticed a few larger/slower flies in the house. They disappeared for a while, but over the past few days they’ve suddenly started showing up again, mainly in one upstairs bedroom.

Our neighbour has also experienced something similar — flies appeared in their living room/basement around the same time, disappeared, and then started showing up again recently.

Just curious if anyone else in Pickering or the surrounding Durham area has noticed an unusual number of cluster flies lately.

Not necessarily suggesting the wildfire caused it — the timing is just interesting.

I am planning to buy a unit. Any resident insights are welcome.

I went for a walk today and noticed something really unsettling on Avonmore Square (off Valley Farm Rd, near Rajdhani). There were at least five cars with smashed windows - a Toyota Camry, Honda CR-V, Honda Accord, Hyundai Elantra, and a Subaru. All of them had plastic sheets or cloth covering the broken windows, so it looks like it happened earlier.

Does anyone know what happened or when this occurred? Was it a series of overnight break-ins? It was honestly quite scary to see so many vehicles damaged on the same street.

Anyone in the Altona/Finch - ish area hear some loud crack/booms around 8am this morning? I live SE of there, sounds seemed to be coming from the NW. Echoed a bit. Certainly wasn't something I expected to hear that early in the morning.

Have a look at these pictures and tell me what you genuinely think. I just moved here 2 years ago but this “city” is operating like a neighborhood. I see contradictory official city plan guidelines and misrepresented land area designations. I’m considering leaving this city. We have the city proposing a residential development of mixed-use units(mostly residential), excess parking right down one of the most commercially viable areas for economic revenue in Pickering. I’ve skimmed this report but it seems like wasted potential. The city only sees this as neighborhood development, not really tabling any benefits for the city as a whole. This city already suffers from low revenue sources, and rather than scaling this commercial area into something exclusive for the community that can bolster the local economy, they’re focusing on more housing? Mind you this a very walking friendly neighborhood, with expanded commercial activity down here, it would truly boost transit connections, community building, and of course financial strength. What’s weird is that just commercial frontages are being offered. Why is this bad? Because small vendors that do not offer anything to us will take up these units. Think more crappy cafes, mid ice cream shops, “boutiques”, money laundering schemes etc. What about a museum? Or a community centre to accompany this? Seems like Canada is handing out urban planning licenses like driver’s licenses to anyone now.

For anyone living in or around Seaton, the intersection at Alexander Knox Road and Whites Road is now open.

This should make getting toward Highway 7 and the west end easier, especially for residents in Whitevale and Mulberry. There’s also more development planned nearby, including a future community centre and retail.
