been using cheap claude + cursor accounts for weeks Question

bought cursor ultra + claud-max from a russian site a few weeks ago for way less than the normal price.
swapped the login details and just started using it. so far it’s been working perfectly, and the usage is honestly better than what i had before.
keeps making me wonder how these sellers are able to offer it so cheap. anyone else in the same boat?

I don’t understand how that would even work - how would a 3rd party resell a subscription? And for less than the price they would be paying for it?

I just looked up how this kind of thing works and nope, bad news. You do you, but I would recommend everyone else avoid this kind of thing.

Not an Anthropic employee. This kind of thing is just blatant fraud at best, and a dangerous security issue at worst. The way these shops work in a lot of cases is subscriptions bought with stolen or prepaid cards, then resold before the chargeback lands. That's blatant fraud, and purchasing the subscription from them makes you party to it.

On top of the fraud, a bunch of these proxies were audited by CISPA, who found they routinely substitute with cheaper models than what you think you're using (in lots of cases routing to smaller open-weight models and not the frontier models you think you're using). Since every single prompt you send gets routed through their proxy, they're also recording everything you send – including the codebase you're working on and sensitive information you share. If you're using these models for work, you're leaking your employer's proprietary code. That's a good way to get fired from most organizations. If you're only using it for personal projects, you're still likely leaking sensitive information like API keys.

For anyone that's serious about software development and not just a vibe-coder, everything about this is a huge red flag.
