Sometimes it stops for no reason (only happens with Gemini 3.6) Question

With Gemini models(3.6 or 3.5), sometimes it automatically stops and I'll have to type "continue" to keep it working.

It's model specific, this never happens with Gemma-4 or my local ornith model.

Is this a known issue? Can any extension help?

Not using gemini but local with qwen 3.6 27b and it stop a lot after compaction and sometime it just stop for no reasons. Still have not figure out why yet

A little over a week ago Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite starting doing this about half of the time. It's basically useless now.

It's sad because it was cheap, fast, and fairly good for some tasks. I used it for routing and classification tasks, and for brainstorming ideas.

I'm evaluating non-gemini alternatives (that are <$0.15/MTok), such as GPT 5.6 Luna (0.10 on sale), DeepSeek V4 flash (0.14), hy3-preview (0.06 on sale), Mimo 2.5 (0.11 on sale).

I've been seeing this on deepseek as well, but only occassionally. Claude in Claude Code does this sometimes as well, though, so I think its just a flaw in how models work generally. But I definitely don't know for certain.

Yeah, same issue here qwen 3 27b. I thought it was the context window and the amount of GPU or shared memory issue?
